No new comer to controversy, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi -a man who, along with ruling Italy is also the country's richest man and a general prick- recently went on record saying, quote:
"I am the Jesus Christ of politics. I am a patient victim, I put up with everyone, I sacrifice myself for everyone."

Ahem. This isn't particular surprising coming from a man who a day previous made a similar statement about Napoleon, and who also has claimed the Mussolini was the greatest statesmen in Italy's history. So, dickery is common to the man. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else had any thoughts on all this, especially since I don't think this has registered very high on the US news radar. We've been too busy with Dick Cheney shooting guys. In the face.

This comment was taken slightly out of context. In mediteranean countires there's more of a currency with using Christian ideology within the modern lexicon. People in Spain talk of a trial or dilemma as their Calgary - and people occasionally compare themselves with Jesus, not in a I-am-the-messiah kind of way, but insofar as they're terribly put upon - and that's what Silvio was saying if you look at the whole of what he said.

Still a prick though.
