A few months ago, I made a post reporting on a minor magical exercise from PopMagic that I tried. I put it up because I thought it might be useful for other newbies to see the results; there were no fireworks or ILM-designed visions of otherworldly beings, yet it was a very rewarding little experience for the effort.
So, I started to think that it might be neat to have a series of articles or a journal or something along the same line: documentation of my muddling along, in order to show other beginners one guy's progress with all its successes and failures. Sort of a cross between a blog and a magical record. However:
1) I don't know anything about how weblogs work (technical requirements, software, is it something that you have to host somewhere, and what the heck is "hosting" anyway);
2) I think I'd like to have a collaborator or collaborators: to rein me in if I'm just writing personal details which don't relate, to help me edit since my writing experience is limited to one unrevised NaNoNovel, and to have someone who will have expectations so I will be less likely to get lazy and give up after a month. (That was the whole reason I told everyone I knew, "I'm writing a novel this November!": so that I would be shamed into actually doing it instead of briefly being excited then backing out.)
So, if anyone has any technical info or suggested links, or if anyone would like to play the Chief to my Clark Kent, if anyone has feedback on experiments I ought to include in the project, or even if anyone just wants to say, "That's a terrible idea you should not pursue," please let me know, either here or at tom_o_bedlam@hotmail.com. |
