RAR! SFV...

So I downloaded this movie that I'm really excited about seeing, having spent most of yesterday reading Alexander Siddig interviews. And now it's all chopped up into little bits, which are hidden away in some secret occult archive. VLC player plays the very first of these little chopped up bits, but none of the others.

So now I've downloaded Easy SFV Creator, but I'm still not sure what it actually does. And I'm trying to download WinRAR or a program that does the same thing, but I don't want to pay for it. But likewise, I don't really know what that does either. Help!

I'm a caveman
Your modern ways frighten and confuse me
I watch your spirit box with the blinking lights and think
Are those little people trapped in that box?
No, caveman

I'm pretty sure WinRAR is used for accessing the archive files. I think if you can get your file(s) out of the RAR file, you're halfway home. "Bits", you say? Are you able to open the RAR and view the files inside it?

The download came in the form of two folders that had lots of RAR files in them. I've now downloaded a decoder that seems to be turning the RAR chunks into one AVI file. But it all seems a bit too small to be a movie.

Usually if you right click the first rar and unrar here it combines them all into one large AVI - no?

Well, sounds to me like you're doing everything right. The AVI seems small, tho? Get both folders of RARs processed thru and then check the files over. You may well end up with two AVIs (generated from the two folders), each running an hour (or whatever the halfway point of your movie would be).

Depending on the quality it was ripped to digital at you will often see the 2 folder makeup. This is so people can fit movies onto 2 CDs, or, more rarely, 2 of those half sized CDs that were popular for, like, 10 minutes.

Usually you see movies broken down into equal sized pieces of about 350+ MB, since CDs hold 700mb generally, it is considered better to have 2 equal sized movie chunks then to have one full cd and another cd with the last 12 minutes of film.

I have done it! I have conquered the Machine World with the same unswerving audacity with which I conquered the Life of the Mind! I will show you the Life of the Mind!

Film was good, too. Cheers all.
