I also have friends from a variety of 'minority groups' and sometimes when we're together we too laugh at stuff that's a) not especially funny, and b) borderline-offensive. I wouldn't post that stuff here, though, and I'd advise you not to either.

Key here, I think. DM - it's not your "dark" sense of humour that's the problem (and laughing at the gayers is not actually very dark at all - it's one of the most normal, boring vanilla ways of joking about). It's your "shit" sense of place.

More generally, and since other things have been quoted in this thread which have been found offensive by some members, to what extent is "it's funny" (especially when it isn't) a worthwhile defence, and to what extent should what one or more people see as turds just be left to be washed away by the rains of passing time and how much scooped and dumped in the bin.
