but isn't that map the intellectual property of Harry Beck's estate or TFL? That is to say, someone somewhere owns it, it's not just there for anyone to help themselves to.

But the people who made the anagram map aren't generating any money with it. In fact, webhosting actually costs money.

Equally, isn't the tube public property? I get that that's a different thing to "public domain", but bloody hell, if people are going to be threatened with legal action for making a sodding anagram map, it's hardly in the spirit is it?

weeel, I imagine it's totally within the spirit of corporate capitalist bastards!

i'm not sure whether one has to profit from a breach of copyright for it to count thereas, but didn't we decide that this was an ad for a Doctor Who spinoff? In wch case presumably someone will profit?

oh and is that anagram map Elija links to the same as the one in the initial post? It doesn't seem to be to me... am very confused by all this now.

It would appear that history actively seeks to repeat itself.

Before the London version was forgotten, Robot Johnny turned in his own version of the Toronto subway map. In even swifter response the Toronto Transit Commission stumped their own cease and desist order.

Robot Johnny being the savvy fellow that he is pulled it down and replaced it shortly thereafter with version two, which bears the same kind of resemblance to the intellectual property it infringes upon that the ramblings of Anne Rice bear to novels.

It can be found here and if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Ear Mittens.
