Tiger Lillies: Mountains of Madness

So the Tiger Lillies are putting on a HP Lovecraft tribute show with Alexander Hacke of Einsturzende Neubauten.

Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, United Kingdom
17/03/2006 - 20:00

"Mountains of Madness is a spine-chilling musical performance based on some of Lovecraft's eerie stories, including The Rats in the Walls, At The Mountains of Madness and The Call of Cthulhu."

Sounds like the kind of opera that doesn't get past the 2nd act due to pesky investigators if you ask me.

Aw, no fair. I'm sure it'll end up in Embra eventually, though. [Crosses fingers]

holy shit..

The Tigerlillies tend to push me toward babbling insanity even without Lovecraft.

I really should go.

They play regularly at the venue I work at. Also, when I worked up in Edinburgh at the St Stepehen's venue, they did a week in residence. It was the perfect setting for them; a dilapidated church hosting a band whose rousing set closer is 'Banging in the Nails', and whose tour T-Shirt was a blow-up sex doll on a cross...

The drummer is a very nice man.

Should we say Friday then? Tickets look to be shifting fairly fast- I'm gonna buy mine today, I reckon.

Yeah, booked this afternoon. So, Friday it is then? And would it also be an idea to have a couple of quiet lagers before the show, if for no other reason than to contemplate the prospect of Martin from the TL's screaming about r'hleh, iot soggoth and such, as let's face it, he's going to have to do really? You can only get so far with the rats in the walls, before you enter... teh cosmology.

I reckon a couple of swift pints may add to our minds' inability to correlate their contents, yes?... and isn't that the most merciful thing in the world?

Shall we away to the Gathering?

The Return Of Rothkoid

I saw some footage of the Berlin (?) premiere of the thing - pretty interesting. Jacques seemed a little less mannered than he normally is on stage, and the combination of Hacke's electronics (and he really does have a bit of a spaghettiwire setup going, so it sounds good) is a little weird, but oddly suitable. The illustrations that're projected look fairly good - almost like grimoire woodcuts or something.

I interviewed Jacques the other week, but didn't get to ask about this project. Apparently, it's going to tour, though, so I live in hope that it comes to Australia.
