What about an I-FAQ? As in 'infrequently asked questions'?

A radical rethink, trashing received impressions of CM and related practice. A Novo Ordo Barbelientis? (Someone stomp my classics, I dares ya...)

I think that's the best idea I've heard yet.

Okay: as a way of getting this thing rolling again, I've taken the liberty of creating The Barbelith Magic Companion.

For those of you unfamiliar with the arcane ways of blogger, this is an online journal. Instead of regular diary entries, various people can write articles or tips that can then be posted on the Companion; a link on the sidebar will take the curious newbie straight to the topic of their choice.

If you want to become actively involved, post on this thread or PM me to become part of the team, and I'll set you up. For all those of you who fear HTML or Blogger, PM or email me your proposed article and I'll post it for you, along with the appropriate credit.

If you have a link that you belive should be on the recommended reading list, post it here.

If you thing I'm being a pushy, self-important wee bitch, dial 0800-GETYOUROWNBLOG.

Ta!

Cool beans.

As an idea for creating articles, why not take the most recent Magick threads and condense them into articles?

How about gathering all the "Barbelith Tarot" and "Rune" Index threads and putting them into one big article?

I'll work on some threads, if I get the time to, but I'd love to contribute to this.

I like to read some stuff about the sephiroth's relationship within the universe, everything i've read so far has either been confusing or uneducating.

Some primers on the i'ching would be nice, tips on interpretation, could possibly just be a section on learning to interpret different practices ie runes, tarot, sticks...

Quick bios of important people.

Group magick Vs single practice.

How to protect yourself should be dealth with pretty early on I feel.

Names of power?

From this outsider’s perspective, by far the most important item for your FAQ is to list common definitions of magick and explain which one(s) the practitioners in this forum accept.

What is magick?

Is it an art?

Is it a skill?

Is it a religion?

Who practices magick?

Does belief in magick require a belief in the paranormal?

Could making a ham sandwich be considered magick? (Action in accordance with the will, you know...)

These are all good suggestions, peeps, but we need folk to actually get cracking on entries and stuff. Come on, stir yer stumps!

I'm pretty new to all this and fascinated by it. I think this is a great idea and would definitely be amongst those using it as a resource.

Mordant's link has already helped explain sigil's to me. I knew what they were but had no idea on how to make them, so thanks for that for a start.

c'mon lazy fairies, where's the FAQ? Mordant's blog needs updates, too...

Maybe this sounds a little arrogant. A list of what not to read, covering the Fiona Horne's of this world, or more importantly what not to bother buying would be quite a good idea. Though I doubt I could compile such a thing.

Gonna start another thread (for which I need books) when I get home later on, so not now not going to start with this now. A thread on what not to read? Why give arse more airtime? I'd be more interested in another thread about what people read that they go back to a lot, and why?
Guess I'd best start it then?
Then again, even the most dodgy new age soppy dolphin wank* can provide some inspiration, I guess, just as a lot of non-magicial books can be a source of ideas.
