As for what else you could call 'em, well, I call them "tights", as do the majority of my countrymen. I think my dislike stems from the word "panty" which in the UK has slightly sleazy, slightly pornographic connotations.

As for underoos, I dunno why that word gets my goat, but I'm glad it's a brand name for a specific product and not a synonym for pajamas (as I incorrectly thought).

Bad design? Hmm, the fact that you can't actually turn i-pods off annoys me. I mean, they're continuously using power and that's not a good thing.

You can turn iPods off, well send it to sleep anyway... (assuming you have a click wheel one) hold down the play button for a few seconds. To completely power it off, you can reset it by pressing the select button then the button at the top of the click wheel and holding that for a few seconds. Press the select button again to turn it back on.

Much as I like my iPod, that's a really unintuative design...

You can't download *your* music from *your* ipod. It's all one bastard way. Way to look after your paying customers.

I'm rather pissed off with Apple about that. They used to use hidden files but with every security update I install things get more and more fucking awkward. Every tune has its filename changed to a string of meaningless characters currently.

On another note

Office chairs.

Not so much bad design as complete breakdown of design. My office has over 100 on this very floor around 2 years old. Every single one has at least 2/3 defects. Now I appreciate they don't last forever, however the rate at which these things deteriorate is phenomenal. Spending hours on a chair which refuses to be adjusted or threatens to put you in an even worse position if you chance pressing a lever is rather shity frankly. A select few will even try to eject you from the seat if you dare to touch them.

We are getting a refit next week so I'll be keeping a close eye on how long it takes before I'm perched on the edge of a chair again - not too busy at the moment as you may have guessed.
