Collecting all of a specific issue

I used to have three copies of Nick Fury#1 (one I bought myself, and two came as birthday gifts). How hard would it be to collect all of these in existance? Or any comic really. Like Robin #32 as an example. You'd buy all the copies you could at your shop, buy them up on ebay, everytime you're at a different shop, conventions.

I should assign each of you a random comic that you have to try to buy all of them, and this would also be your secret comic book forum name. Duncan, I dub thee Daredevil #222. (not sure which one that is but I'm about to look it up)

Couldn't find a summary, but I did find the cover. Now you have to buy it or you won't know what happened.

Was that from the era when Denny O’Neil wrote some of them, and David Mazzucchelli was drawing them? Between Miller’s comeback one-off in 219 and the Born Again storyline? Working from memory here, but I suspect that 222 really might not be too bad.
Duncan might be getting off lightly when you consider just how bad this could be.

Though I must admit to some bemusement as to why a person would want to buy multiple copies.

Wow Cooper, you know your back issues. You guessed the creative team correctly. Denny became a DC editor soon after?

The Falcon
14:47 / 31.01.06
Yeah, I like the concept, Jack, but...

I'm not sure I want to own like, loads of copies of a single comic. I'll buy it every time it occurs, and I'm able, but it's possible my enthusiasm might wane.

That being said, I assign Boboss Crisis #7.

Can I have Batman and The Outsiders #19?

I have the full run of this somewhere (or I did, may have vanished during moms divorce) and this cover always made me smile like I did when I was 10 and first started buying comics.

Jack Denfeld
16:31 / 31.01.06
No! You can't pick your own. Just for that you get Youngblood #3. (not sure what that is but I'm sure it's not good)

You MONSTER!

I think that issue had the backwards/upsidedown preview of Battalion on the ass end of it...

I've got a copy of SuperPro #6. But you can't have it! I shall fore'er bask in its glory.

This thread reminds me of the Spores story.

The Falcon
00:41 / 01.02.06
Score, Benny! You just got Teent Titans (1980 run) #48, which was the first comic I ever owned. Good luck finding the one I lost.

It's a tragic melodrama, and I ain't specifically talking 'bout the Perez cozzies.

Can I have a John Byrne comic from the last few years? That way, I'll only have to beat up a few dozen fatbeards to get 'em all.

Oo! Duncan gave me a good idea! Is Finderwolf reading this thread? Tell him that he get's Wolverine #92, the first comic I ever bought. Too bad I have no idea where my copy got off to.

Superpro! Eeeeeeeee! Why couldn't it have been DP7 #12 or Night Force #2? You wound me deeply.

Hang on - did it actually GET to six issues?

23:20 / 01.02.06
Oh. I see you gave me something special. The world-famous RACIST issue of NFL Superpro. I take it all back.

13:56 / 02.02.06
YAY you looked it up!

I had been waiting for a chance to unleash my Superpro knowledge on Barbelith for ages.

This is a magnificently insane idea Jack. I'll take one, and I have one to assign, if anyone's interested.

This Sunday
02:05 / 04.02.06
Bit of threadrot here, but damn, that issue of 'SuperPro' is really, really horrible. Are Warren Ellis (the Kree reservation/prison-camp as Native stand-in, from 'Ruins' and Mr. Forge, if Forge at the end of 'X-Man' was his choice and not a portrayal coming strictly from Grant or the artist) and Grant Morrison (sure, there's the standard magicky mystical angle to his Indian characters, but there's a standard magicky mystical angle to nigh everyone in Morrison comics that aren't about, otherwise magicky mystical, superheroes like the JLA) the only people in comics who can write a decent and non-terribly-offensive Indian? I was reeling from those David Mack 'Daredevil' bits with Echo's indianized dialogue (seriously, does anyone still use the term 'braves' in any sort of contemporary sense? Other than nearly every Native American in comics?) and then popped online, saw the 'SuperPro' thing, clicked on review and... Aaaagh!
And has anyone been confirmed to've done just this and bought all of one issue? Perhaps someone on the creative side who doesn't want a particular issue out in the world, or something?

I have McFarlane's first issue of Amazing Spiderman, or Web of Spiderman, or whatever it was. Is that what you meant? Anyway, I'm not buying that, it would be ruinously expensive, wouldn't it? I'll do Marvel Superheroes #8, Squirrel Girl is cool.

Bio, you get issue 8 of the Marvel reprints of Elfquest.

bio k9
03:34 / 04.02.06
Yeah, thats the one. Now you have to buy every copy you see.

Oh, poop. I put my protest in the form of a moderation request, so now your comment is going to look even more ridiculous than it is.

Jack Denfeld
09:02 / 04.02.06
Someone's gonna be fucked if they had to buy all the McFarlane Spidey #1 issues. Even if it was broken down to Black variant sealed specific. I think that was the best selling comic of it's time (early 90s?) until Claremont and Jim Lee's X-Men #1 came out.

The Falcon
09:13 / 04.02.06
This is a magnificently insane idea Jack.

Misread as 'magnificently inane', there. Which it kinda is, too.

8===>Q: alyn
15:12 / 04.02.06
Yes, Daredevil #222, it seems like Rom: Silver Spaceknight #15 is sort of a master of the inane.

Elijah, Freelance Rabbi

It saddens me to tell you all that I actually own all 5 versions of the Jim Lee X-men #1.

I also have the prestige gatefold version signed by Lee.

:shame:
