Is anyone else playing this or have you heard about it?
It's an online game which is based around cards you buy, each of which have puzzles on. Some are easy cards, and some are really complicated. You get points for each card you solve and many of the cards have special clues on which help you to work out the main aim of the game, which is to find an artifact called the Receda cube. This artifact exists in real life and is hidden somewhere in the world. If you find it, you win £100,000.
It's really very good. The puzzle cards are interesting in their own right and some answers provide you with other clues for the main search. For example, if the answer to a puzzle contains a telephone number, it's certainly worth dialling.
Some of the cards even fit together when you turn them over and create a map of Perplex City itself - something which we think will be significant when all the cards have been released.
Everyone we have seen since we started playing it has been fascinated by the cards and anyone can get at least one clue. Some of the cards are very difficult (a lot to do with Maths) and you get higher points for those. Some are simple and even my eight year old got correct answers.
There are also loads of related websites for random made-up companies such as Whipsmartice.com (which is utterly lovely) and characters with blogs which make for interesting reading. There's even a University, with a library which I have not yet worked out the password for.
I wondered if anyone here had heard anything about it, and if anyone is interested in hearing some of the clues? I could post the ones I know here and you could all try and work them out. (Oh, what fun. How the Winter evenings whizz by here on Barbelith.) |
