Would you mind telling us a bit more about the project, and the place the photos were taken ciarconn? Since I don't know any Spanish the blog was somewhat lost on me...

Yes, sorry about that… Guadalajara is the second or third bigger city in Mexico, and not the most vanguardist or liberal. There is a tianguis, an open air market, set nearby downtown, in which many subcultural groups get together to buy and sell their specialized goods. Goths, Anarcopunks, ravers, (neo)hippies, and “fresitas” (high class youngsters) are together without having troubles. My objective is to register the most notable examples of how they dress, trying to focus in the most original and/or syncretic.

If you're looking for the "most original" why not look for those that don't look to their neighbor in the north for inspiration? in your pictures you have some indie peeps, goths, punks, hippies... is there anyone with another sensibility? I mean even the "fresitas" seem to be based on "valley girls."

Answering this is a bit sad or complex, depending on the point of view... yes I have been in the look out for people dressed in an original, non-anglo ways, or a syncretism between mexican an alien aesthethics. But they are not common. Could blame it on globalization, could be malinchismo (how mexicans tend to prefer non-mexican ways of living).
