Indestructible Man

During the past three years, GM often mentioned a series called « Indestructible Man » as his third magnum opus planed to form a cohesive trilogy with « The Invisibles » and « The Filth ».

Considering these news items, the project seems to have evolved quite a bit:

“At the moment I'm assembling research material for "Indestructible Man," which is the third part of an informal "hypersigil" trilogy including the "Invisibles" and "The Filth.”

Then:

“when can we expect to see this one?

GM: Not for a while. Nearer the end of this decade probably. This project got very ‘weighty' and is currently on the back burner. I also realized that Flex Mentallo, The Invisibles and The Filth already formed the cohesive ‘hypersigil' trilogy I was talking about and that Indestructible Man was becoming something quite different.”

Whatever form the final project may have, has anybody heard anything more about IM ?

Very eager to read that one.

Sometimes Magnum Opus is used in the sense of a great artistic or literary achievement, rather than the single greatest work in an artist's canon, so yes, I believe you could have more than one.

If it's solicited for December 2012, there is a danger that it might take place after the end of the world...

there's this.

MORRISON: Wait and see. At the moment I'm assembling research material for "Indestructible Man," which is the third part of an informal "hypersigil" trilogy including the "Invisibles" and "The Filth."

and this:

There's the Indestructible Man series which is plotted and awaits the hand of Quitely but only after we've done our DCU book, so don't hold your breath just yet. There's a project called C.O.O.L. which I'm working on with Rian Hughes at the moment. The other creator books? Well apart from Supertrendy Young Doctor, I don't want to reveal titles at this stage as they might give too much away.

That's true, Yevgeny, but to have one person create more than one magnum opus seems odd and confusing - I can get much more easily behind the idea that many people operating in an artform will not create a magnum opus at all. The thought of somebody saying "This is my magnum opus... and this is my other magnum opus"... feels like opusflation.
