One of the weirder aspects of Barbelith is the phenomenon of 'ghost threads': even after it's been deleted, a thread still 'exists' as a URL, and can be accessed by those who know its URL.

It's been suggested that Hawksmoor's threads not be deleted, so Tom can examine them as and when he makes a decision re: banning the guy. I'm proposing to link all of the offending threads to here. That'd mean we'd be able to delete them from the board 'proper' yet still have access to them.

So here they are:

Here's another one, those of you who have any interet in reading it and judging it with decent llikes and criticisms.

I've not been following this particular drama, but these are the immediately visible (and not yet deleted) Creation threads. They could be deleted now, I guess. Feel free to add others as necessary.

Thanks guys. I've banned Hawksmoor and looked into the database and spotted a few other accounts that MIGHT be alternate suits, so if users 1728, 2673, 3086, 4024 and 4639 start causing trouble, let me know and I'll ban 'em too.

The Ghost Thread thing is really interesting. The most obvious thing for me to do would be for me to make it so that only moderators and admins could see Ghosted threads. Obviously, technically, I'm not so great - so I'm not going to say for one minute that I'll just pop off and do that, but I'll add it to the list of things that would be useful functionality for the distant future...

Erm, Tom, normally when someone is banned their username becomes a dead link, but in Hawksmoor's case it's still linking to his profile. Does the cancelling take a while to work through or are you doing something different this time?

I think what happens now is that Tom changes the suit password to a random smack of the keyboard, rather than deleting the login outright. Could be wrong, mind.

People, one of the moderators on this site has already told me of my errors. Get off my back with this, will you? I've learned the rules of posting now, and this won't happen again, so many posts in so many areas. Honest mistakes do seem to be getting more and more intolarable these days. I can't understand how a lot of you are getting so up in arms about this when there are posts upon this site in which people are using very, very vulgar language, cursing a blue streak here, using innappropriate language there, and i'm jumped on for a few postings in a few wrong areas. Gee, talk about idiocy. Leave the moderations to the moderators, and get of yer high horses. For God's sake, it aint the end of the world, people.

I'm not sure it needs to be deleted. Sure it's rotty and silly but then so are a lot of posts in the Comics forum.

If it were outright offensive I would move for a deletion, as it stands I'll wait and see whether any other Comics mods think it should go.
