Anyone else remember this group? They were a "goth" band, quite prominent in the late 90's, which was when I discovered them, during my goth phase at college. It consisted of two girls, Tina Root (Vocals) and Susan Wallace (keyboards, programming) plus a male guitarist who changed every album. They did about three albums before the two girls split and went their own seperate ways. Tina Root now has a solo act called Tre'lux and is planning on releasing an album of covers, while Susan Wallace seems to have left the music industry entirely to become a massage therapist.

I've been relistening to their three albums recently and they're just as good as I remember. Their first album, "Serpentine Gallery", could be one of the greatest goth albums of the 90's (fuck, I'd even rank it among the 80's and late 70's). Just a chilly, atmospheric electronic goth masterpiece that you can dance to. The second album, "Bread and Jam for Frances", was a more experimental work, incorporating elements of drum and bass into their sound and it also found Tina Root (who has a stunning voice) branching out as a vocalist. Originally, I wasn't that fond of their third album, "Three Calamities", which dropped much of their goth sound to focus more on moody dance music, but it's grown on me over the years and sounds better to me now then it did back then.

I only know Serpentine Gallery, but I'll second you on that one.

Loved Bread and Jam for Frances. I still play it to this day. It pretty much figured as the soundtrack for my degenerate early 20s.

And Three Calamities was disappointing.

It's nice to know others remember Switchblade Symphony too. I saw them once. With the Sisters of Mercy.

Where was that, Kali? Sounds like a great show - I never saw the Symphony, but the Sisters gigs I went to were some of the best I've seen.

I wish that the Sisters would do another tour in the States, but I suspect the chances of that happening while the Republicans are in control asymptotically approach zero, given Andrew Eldrich's politics. At least I've been able to get my fix of their unreleased material from European bootlegs off of Ebay.
