Back from Duckie, and mucho partying with the lovely Amy Lame and friends. This evening's effort took place at South Central (formerly Dukes) as opposed to the Vauxhall Tavern, and was full of beary loveliness.

But we're home now, and I'm sure it's downhill from here. That's the way these things work. I'm thinking 'downbeat' in terms of the year past and the year to go. Let's look at best and worst.

Best
Moving to the new flat. Finally. Changed our lives, and will continue to make us both happy.

Worst
Not getting the previous flat, my mother's maybe-divorce, Xoc's father's maybe-amputation. It could've been a lot worse. All in all, it was a bloody excellent year.

I need to think on the highlights and lowlights of 2005. One of the best certainly was coming back to London after my 2-week summer holiday and finding out I was being promoted before I even cleared passport control. But quoi d'autre?

Well I woke up this morning with the comedown kicked in good and heavy after a so-so anticlimax nye gathering and finding out it hasn't magically turned summer yet but by tonight I have achieved two of my objectives for 2006 already:

1. Get car: CHECK (got it given to me for free too gdmit! As a surprise!
2. Write new song:CHECK (and it's called "Balaklava Day" and it's something like a cabaret polka sort of ladida....)

Check and check, done and done.
See, things are gonna be all right.

Best - Getting a dog. I love that little bugger.

Worst - The passing of my Gram in June (her funeral happened on my birthday).

It's surprising easier to think of candidates for the Best category, so it must have been a good year. It was the first full year I was in business for myself, and I did well. I did not have to seek any temp work to supplement my income past I think last February, so yay for me.

It's all better now. No more work for a week, and just got back from the pub. I think perhaps a couple more beers and watching March Of The Penguins may make this a pleasant evening.
