Omg. I can't take it. I'm even playing at Chieftain level; what the hell happens when I stop being completely pathetic at Civilization and *really* start losing days to it?

And I'm supposed to be working. Was. Supposed to be. 12 hours ago.

So! Shift it!

I haven't done an awful lot of work today either Wembley. Christmas eats my resolve a little too much I think.
Well anyway popping in and out of lateshift as I need to sleep soon lest I lose tomorrow's productivity to late sleeping.
(goodnight)

I think I've already written off tomorrow's productivity. Or who knows, miracles may happen when I start getting all giggly and wonky with lack of sleep. Goodnight!

I am here, who knows for how long. I had some work that hung over into Christmas holidays, which I've finally finished, and so I am actually finally feeling like I need not be productive.

Drinking hot chocolate and having a slice of toast. ymmmm.

I'm at work, with little work to do! And attempting to teach new minions, but having not very much stuff to give them to do... it's a bit weird, to be honest.

We get new minions less often than it seems we do, because it's such a shock when you have to "train" some new kid at all the things you're going to shirk all day. And there's always a terrible, weird vibe around them for at least 2 weeks, because nobody will really get friendly with you until they've seen enough of your work to check that you're gonna be okay...

Stoatie--So, you're at work tonight again, right?

I'm still coming down from the New Year's high. I danced all night to local bands at a friend's house. It was good. Dancing is the best way to bring in the new year, I think.

Yes, I'm at work again. The only thing that's making this hangover/comedown bearable is the fact that everyone else has one as well.

I am trying to work on a piece I wrote last year; I want to submit it to a literary journal, but they have a word limit that means I would need to cut it by about 1/3. I re-read it and am at sea--don't know what to do with the thing.

Ooh, cutting bits out is always the most painful part.

How was your New Year?

alas
00:34 / 02.01.06
So, it's the writing equivalent of a hangover--I think I'm trying to say.

alas
00:38 / 02.01.06
Obviously I was typing that at the same time you were posting. My new year was grand--I really do love local music, hearing live bands play and dancing...And had a great dinner with some friends I just love. They live in an old church that they've filled full of art and I don't know. And my kids are home and they're just really good people.

Does this sound annoyingly sappy? I am just truly content--apart from this cutting the writing down dilemma. It's kind of terrifying to be so content--seems so unnatural.

Nah, content's good.

I may be paying for it now, but New Year was cool- party at a friend's house, with lots of booze and free drugs. And pirate music.

Arrrr! Pirate Music!

It's sounds fabulous. I drank too much and smoked a little, which I do about twice a year. But the hangover was mild and the experience good.

Anything of interest in the papers tonight?

Not really... except that the cowboy out of the Village People was apparently a consultant on Brokeback Mountain, which is just perfect.

Yo yo yo. I hope that cowboy was properly qualified.

Hey there, Nina. Good new year?

What more qualification does one need, other than singing a top 40 song about the navy while dressed as a cowboy in a country that in 1980 mostly didn't get that they were loving a very campy gay performance piece?

I'm not entirely sure I'd have trusted that so-called "construction worker" to fix my ceiling, though...

Well, I am tired of working on two projects at once and think I'll head off to bed now. Sweet dreams, kids...

I jumped around a lot in my living room and now my legs feel like jelly everytime I stand up or sit down. It was good!!!

I'm doin' ok. Relocated to Florida and just kind of relaxing. How you been?

Every time they play the intro music for this new Star Trek show, I giggle a little bit. It sounds like an 80's sitcom theme song or something.

Ah, Stoatie dear, it's too late. I've already sunk into a horrid depressive funk over being the least popular Lateshifter.

And it's all your fault.

Pssh. Pay no mind, I'm just being a bitch. You know I loves ya.

Have I missed any Barbelith stuff in the last couple of months?

Sekhmet

Well, Ganesh and Xoc were all over the tabloids for a week, what with that three-way scandal with Prince Harry (dubbed the Hair Bear Affair by the media).

Other than that, not much.
