Snow loads of it here.... in fact eight inches of the white stuff. The cat is fairly disgusted with the whole idea but as I find it very difficult to get into work I'm at home so therefore I'm keen on it.

I could walk in, it would only take two hours but given in my attempt at 6.45am this morning left me with ice frozen to my hair I don't think I'll worry about it.

Strangely the M25 is clear of snow around this part.

Mono - you should probably forget the train in this kind of snow. A few flakes, and, well, you know, rails become impassable.

Maybe drive to the airport, but slower? You can't miss the tour!

Abney Park cemetery looks great in the heavy snow, which is up to 10cm deep in some parts. Sachabelle loved playing with other dogs in it, though Sheena wasn't out yet.

Here they've closed all the schools. We were supposed to go to a big jewellery tradeshow today wh ich we can't get to now but I don't care because now we're eating potato farls for breakfast and then we're going outside to make a big snowman. I let the dog out this morning and he trotted out as usual and then stopped short looking all shocked. I've never seen a dog look shocked. I might see what the parrots do in a minute.

It's still snowing and we've got about four inches so far. Yay!

Plus I have to add - I couldn't help but laugh when I read on the beeb website that "up to 9 cm of snow had fallen, reaching 15 cm on hilltops"... Get over it! Come back and complain when you get 15 centimeters in 2 hours. You lads and ladettes from the States, Canada and Central Europe (or anywhere with proper amounts of snow) will know what I'm talking about.

Same here. I shall send my snowculus. Not to do battle you understand, that would suggest a chance of failiure.

I send him to collect your frozen corpse!

Barely any snow in Southampton.

Django-Ignatius Durango, did you take any photos of Abney Park?

This morning I was woken up at 7am by my flatmate, who dragged me outside to make a huge SNOWMAN. Fucking wicked! It's still snowing here in North London, so I'm gonna have to make another one on Hampstead Heath at lunchtime. Snow rules more than you. FACT!

No, snow bad, B'boss. As I said, the bloody mess it'll leave behind isn't worth it. In two hours it'll be puddle hell, and then, when the sun sets, the icing over starts. Best put on your skates, mates!

I did, and will post some here soon.

Fucking hell, Birmingham's covered in it, and it still seems to be falling, at least lightly...

Snow isn't fun when you have a hypersensitivity to cold that means that, if it's cold enough to snow, you know that if you dare venture out of the house at all, your face and any other exposed part of your body will be in extreme pain. Couple that with a need for a routine including at least a couple of miles of walking every day, and it's kind of impossible not to hate snow.

A lot of my friends who use wheelchairs or crutches or walk unsteadily will also probably be housebound or nearly housebound today.

Oh well, i can always stay in and read At The Mountains Of Madness...

Nat, that's rough so I'll let you off the hook.

Los on the other hand has clearly lost his inner child.

A child, lost in the snow.

Somebody having more.

Just took Sheena and Charlie (my friend's dog, a big fuck-off Alsatian) up to the park, and it was absolutely fucking ace.

And yes, Abney Park is fucking brilliant right now.

It was lovely taking the hound for a walk in the cemetery this morning. There were what I thought were kids when I heard voices from a distance squealing with delight, but when they got near, the joyous folk turned out to be adults, dragging a toboggan and having fun.

This being London, the snow is melting and turned quickly to black slush on the street outside though.

But that's what the cemetery is for - escaping the city, seeing robins at arm's length and hearing two different species of woodpeckers in the trees. I only wish I'd seen a fox, but it's highly unlikely in the daylight in there.

Oh, sorry to come off as such a party-pooper. I guess it was just my inner child venting his frustration at being so close to such a prime source of past joy and knowing very well that it wouldn't last and he wouldn't be let out of the cage cuz I had to go to bloody work!

Also, I guess I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to British snow - there's just not enough of it. Growing up, I saw at least a meter thick layer of snow every winter for a good 4 months, up to 3, even 4 meters when I visited grandparents up north. 'Tis pitiful, the frozen water that falls here. Beautiful, but pitiful.

This morning we had a robin who flew up to the window and pointedly looked in so we went outside, brushed all the snow off the bird table and fed the birds mealworms and things. They all came and pigged out. I think the robin was the messenger.

Then we built a pair of GINORMOUS SNOW MEN! See how big they are:

They are so big.

It's still snowing here which I think is lovely (sorry nattyraja) and the children are not going to school tomorrow either, so more snow fun. In a minute we are going snowboarding up in the Lickey Hills.

Snowman smiling:

See the people in the background? They are building a snowfort ready for a massive battle. Snow makes everyone be seven again.
