Here's a link. Skeletons and laboratories discovered by workmen in Georgia supposedly suggest that Stalin was trying to build an amry of mutant ape men.

This cheered up my work day when i read about this in the sun (borrowed) a few days ago. I asked if i could cut it out so i could show it to some of my commie friends. Its currently on my kitchen table.

I laughed so hard i almost choked on my soup when i read that the scientist in charge of the project died in a work camp for not being able to make invincible mutant ape men. Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it now.

Moving back on topic, does anyone have any more general information about Stalin's views/actions regarding science so that we can get some context here?

Well, it's worth remembering how much cash the Soviets were pumping into their psychic research program as well. They were really on a bit of a "weird science" kick over there...ANYTHING to gain the upper hand in the Cold War.
