Self and Bloke will be in Londonistan for a few days in the runup to Crimbo, probably from Tuesday onwards. Any takers?

Thursday would be a good day for us, btw. We will be around for longer, but that seems best in the short term.

I could do Thursday...

Would love to meet the Adjective Nouns, but would have to squeeze it in between a wine-soaked lunch and gin-steeped dinner. And I'm not sure that that would be good for anyone. Nevertheless, where are you planning to meet people?

yay! i am gonna try my best, but have a really tight schedule this week.

I can do Thursday if it's somewhere reasonably central.

Thursday... doable. I think this could be the OFFICAL Barbelith Xmas drinks. Shall we do a secret santa thing like last year?*

*No one is allowed to claim they have brought either of the Adjective Nouns as presents and are attempting to give them away.

Bah. Thursday I look after our child of an evening, while Lilly Nowhere works late late late and hard hard hard in that Xmess run-up frenzy she does so beautifully well. So not for us, sadly.

I think I should be able to make this, wherever it may be held.

Perhaps I'll wrap up all of my old Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim records as presents.

Don't forget to add extra flour to the Neph ones.

Apparently there's a new one

I wonder if there is a luxury version complete with a sachet of flour?

Bah! I miss living in London. When do you return to the sun? will you be in England for the New Year or is it a flying visit? *Mental picture of broom with luggage attached*

This sounds cool and groovey! Do either of the adjective nouns want to pick a pub? Things really haven't changed that much so you will probably still know what and where is in Central London.

Dude!! How cool! Where should we go?

Cool! But I was always shit at pubs in central London and would be quite keen on somewhere cheap - I think the shock at having to pay more than 6 euros for a carafe of sangria may kill me. What do you mean you don't use euros? - but I remember the Cheshire Cheese being ok. But I dont have any strong attachment to the place either....help me out guys.

Sorry, I am committed, possibly in more ways than one. Ho-ho-ho.

I'm gutted. Can't you all meet in my basement or round my cave man campfire out back? I'd be quite happy to host Barbelith Xmas drinks. Anna would be there most likely. Then you bring your own and it's very cheap. N16 lives y'know. I could pop out for a sip and a laugh between hilights...

There's a little place just North of Oxford Street, I don't know if you've heard of it, it's called the Blue Posts...

Cheshire Cheese and the Blue posts both have the advantage of being equally cheap and equally central...

I'd rather the BP as am a working girl this week.

Lets go to the Blue Posts then, for a change of scene....

Actually, I've really never been there and would like to try it out. Say 6ish? Though we might get there a bit earlier ourselves.

Yeah, Blue Posts works for me.

(Though I just got a text message from Anna, who's not near a computer at the moment, urging you to take up Lilly's offer on the grounds that a friend of hers- and mine- is clearly Lurid's long-lost brother... on reflection, I can't really say I disagree, either... I'd LOVE to see you guys in the same room, though it could get confusing).

Yeah, but choosing stokie tends to drive away everyone else. But I may be in stokie on Friday...

Who's Lurid's twin anyway?

[Stoatie: Have you been singing the Pixies' "Broken Face" a lot this week?]

Yes, it would be really odd seeing Lurid and Mr D in the same room (or around the same barbaric fire).

Lurid - do you like...motorbikes? Carburettors? That sort of thing?

No. I leave all the blokey stuff to Mordant.

O right. I still get all the adjectives confused. Perhaps LA and MC are the gendersplit twins of "Mr.D" then?
Anyway, do stop in to our place when in N16. And have a nice visit you four.

It's easy to confuse adjectives. They're like cats in that respect.

Mon Oncle Ignatius

No. I leave all the blokey stuff to Mordant.

Ah, so in that respect you will not be easily confused with the D-mensch, should you ever be in the same general vicinity. One would merely have to utter a phrase such as "classic age of British bikes" or "this is how you prevent a Triumph from leaking oil everywhere", then raise a quizzical eyebrow until identity can be established.

For that matter I think I'll leave all the motorbikey stuff to Lilly.

Soooo... place? time? either would be handy. Both would be even better.

(I remember the Cheshire Cheese being very nice, though having "head-smackable" stairs, and being round the corner from another pub with the same name... that's probably only a problem if you're as much of a Joey as me, though).

I thought we'd decided on the blue posts...
