Richard Pryor passed...

Richard Pryor passed away today. Quite a big loss to the comedy world.

I'm gonna miss him... even had Stir Crazy sitting next up in the netflix queue when I read the news. Good luck buddy, let's hope the big man shares your sense of humor.

Oh fuck this. I'm getting drunk tomorrow night.

PEACE PRYOR!

I loved that guy.

Just damn.

Only 65. Man, that sucks, because I feel like he had a lot of funny business left in him.

Funny man. Always on the edge. I admired the way he would take any bad thing that had happened to him and analyse it on stage, with hard-hitting, rapid-fire humour. He never got to grips with the gay thing though. Shame.

btw, being from the UK, I was wondering what he had passed or where you were when he passed you? I see that he passed is an American euphemism for he died.

Thanks for all the side-splitting, rolling on the floor laughter, Mr Pryor. You were a true comedy genius and I dearly wish I'd had the chance to see you perform live. Maybe in the next life?

Well this sucks. But I can't say I'm totally shocked. RIP indeed.

Tips hat.

Truly, goodbye to a comedic genius.

I've been getting some of his albums, and he was very very good on the stage - it's a shame that life and hollywood took its toll and turned him into what a lot of people will remember him for, either a crack fiend that set fire to himself, or a really bad actor in that terrible (but not the worst) Superman film.

RIP in deed.

...a crack fiend that set fire to himself...

And then he told jokes about it. And they were very funny.

Rest well, Mr Pryor.

He did a damn fine line in self-mockery.

that terrible (but not the worst) Superman film

Wank off, wankhead. The junkyard fight between Clark Kent and Kryptonite-evil Supes is still The Greatest Scene in Cinema History.

...well, apart from the whole ending of Search for Spock.

Sad news, BTW.

And let's not forget 'Brewster's Millions'. I've always thought "None of the above" should be mandatory on all voting slips. Apathy, my arse.

There has not been a single time in a voting booth when I have not had the image of Richard Pryor exhorting me to vote for none of the above. Ace.

That's a real shame. Who will we turn to for jokes about pet monkies shagging the ears of film execs now? Truly a great man, funny like nothing else. Gonna go watch that live dvd of his and shed some extra tears of laughter. RIP

This is indeed sad news.

(btw- Xoc said " I was wondering what he had passed or where you were when he passed you? I see that he passed is an American euphemism for he died. which reminds me of a big argument I had with a friend a week or so ago... hmm, I feel a "euphemisms for dying and why I don't like them" thread coming on...)

Necromantic charlatan John Edwards is very good for eye-watering euphemisms for death...

Start that thread, Stoatie. I have a thing about the use of the verb ‘to lose’, and am interested to know how come we have developed a euphemism that implies carelessness on the part of the bereaved.

Stoatie has passed on that opportunity for the moment.

I didn't get pissed but I had a lager for him when I was on the way home last night. It didn't seem like enough though, so I'll have another later on in memory of him.

This still sucks though.
