Snow!

So right now I'm in the middle of a snow storm. According to the weather channel it is snowing "heavilly" (hurrah for vague generalizations) and it's supposed to keep snowing through tomorrow. This wouldn't be all that bad, but since it first snowed a week ago, it seems to snow every other day, which is getting old. Far worse, my front tire exploded last night, so I'm driving around on the spare in "heavy" snow.

It sure does look pretty though. And they might let me out of work early because of it, which would be cool.

Any one else have any snow related tales today?

Way-yull.

My little boy got to see snow for the first time last week. We were up in northern Indiana for a wedding. One morning after his wake-up diaper change, I take him into the living room which looks out over a wooded area and creek. Outside the snow is falling fast and thick; flakes as big as my fingernail. "Ooo! Snow!" I said to him, pointing out the window. I look down, and he's wide-eyed and open-mouthed. Disbelief and wonder. It's something he'll never remember, but I always will.

A little later, having a cigarette and coffee on the back porch and looking out over the same creek, I realized how much I missed falling snow and the wonderful silence that accompanies it. And I found myself thinking that it's time to move house soon. I can't bring my son up without snow.

Not from today but was in Russia recently for 10 days, and on one of those days it snowy snowed. I got to stand with my loved one in Red Square late one night with the Kremlin, St. Basils cathedral and GUM all lit up with the flakes falling all around us and it looked something like this.....but dark and twinkly

In Western MA, we're getting about 2" an hour right now. It shouldn't top 10", They don't think, but the forecast for tonight is wind and dropping temperature - which means drifting snow over ice. *cheers* :| My performance tonight has already been cancelled.

Well the roads are finally clear, which means I can enjoy the snow now rather than wait for it to kill me. My front porch is completely covered. It looks like I got 3 to 4 inches. How that's heavy snow, I don't know, I thought it had to be at least past your knees for that. But it's pretty and it's free ammunition that you just pick up off the ground, so it makes me happy.

It's been snowing all day here AND thundering & lightning-ing - ! Crazy! I don't know exactly how much is out there but it's definitely over a foot in some drifts. I took my little black cocker puppy out for a pee, and it came all the way to his shoulders. I giggled like a maniac the whole time, watching him leap around, all covered in flakes. Tried to get a head start on shoveling out my car, but that shit is TIRING, and where do you put it all??

No snow, but it's foggy as hell out there tonight. I have a vague feeling I've fallen into a John Carpenter film.

Where's Young Jamie Lee Curtis when I need her?

Aww. Puppies in snow are the best thing ever. First time Biscy saw snow was quite funny (she kept giving me this "what the FUCK is this shit falling from the sky, Dad?" look)... when I was a kid, my mum's dog Benjie totally FREAKED at snow. He was a dandie dinmont terrier (yeah, my parents were more into pedigree dogs, whereas I think the mongrels are the best) and as such, had fluffy feet that just turned into huge snowballs when he, as often happened, fell totally into snowdrifts (we were living in the country). He loved it, and I think he liked the extra attention that clearing his feet of ice garnered him from the humans in the household.

I WANT SNOW. WHERE'S MY FUCKING SNOW?

It is snowing here now.

On Thursday night (really Friday morning) at around 1:30am we had about two inches of snowfall in about 2 hours. It came down hard and heavy.

Most of that snow has stuck around. ANd its snowing agian now. Hopefully we'llbe able to keep the accumulation.

Maybe this year they'll need to call in the army again. They've done that here before.

Apparently the cloud of smuts from the Buncefield Fuel Depot explosion is heading southwards, so we shall perhaps be blanketed in ash soon. Still no bloody snow though. It will look the same, perhaps. Just a bit more toxic.

Snow here! We have 5 or so inches on the ground from the past week and more falling. I'm making a cassoulet and feeling very homey. There are many birds (and one very determined squirrel) feeding at the bird feeders.
