I've spent some time playing / reading/ engaging Nick Montfort's newest work of interactive fiction, Book and Volume, and I must say, I'm impressed. The story is good fun, albeit challenging.

As the protagonist, you are a newly-hired IT drone who one night gets paged to reset five servers located throughout the city, nTopia. As you wander from site to site, grabbing pizza and checking out the arcades, strange illusions appear and disappear seemingly at random.

Unfortunately, I cannot offer much more, because...well, I can't finish the fiction. After four readings, I've managed to reset four of the five servers (Wendy, Nora, Sophie and Cindy) and discover a few neat alcoves that dispense bits of plot-moving information, but alas, I cannot get all the servers back online by 2:15 a.m. At this point, my boss apparates and fires me. Every time. The shame.

Anyone else reading and having more success?
