Hello all you central belt Barbeloids, I am heading back to my native lands for the Christmas holidays and thought I might try and organise a barbemeet before then.
Location-wise West Coast or East Coast, I'm easy either way, but as for date I was thinking Saturday the 10th, though I have some flexibility.
Anyone up for this?

Loomis
14:02 / 02.12.05
Will have to check the all-knowing kitchen calendar when I get home to make sure we don't have anything else on but I'm definitely up for it in principle.

Sounds good. Will try and round up some suspects.

Ariadne
22:08 / 02.12.05
I don't think we've anything on then - so are we talking East or West? Or somewhere scary in between? Actually, there's a great pub in Linlithgow!

One of these days all you Scottish arses are going to have to make your way down here.

saturday 10th sounds doable, but i will be a pain and ask for it to be local.

cashflowissues are giving me problems right now,and i dont know if i can really afford any of that travelling malarkey.

as always, my home is open to you if you kids need to crash,or even if you fancy a few round mine.

Char Aina
06:51 / 03.12.05
boboss, i will.
i take you are londonish?
i'll be back there next year to see other pals(i hope), so i could make a week of it and give all of you the pleasure.
i have several offers of pints to make good on, for one thing.

can i respectfully suggest that, as this particular mohhamed is currently less mobile than many, you and your mountainous self might wander this way sooner?

come show us yer dancin tits down the subby, big man.

you know you want to.

Loomis
09:35 / 03.12.05
What's the subby toksik? (btw, boboss is in Brighton I believe.)

Yes boboss, come to Scotland!

Char Aina
14:39 / 03.12.05
the subclub.
its the club that all the KoolKids rave at.
they host optimo, you see.
depeds on your poison, buti reckon boboss is prolly aware of the frenetic ear-fun that optimo can supply of a sunday evening.
if not, bobo, you should ask that gracious meme lady.

i'm up for less hardcore shenanigans as well, but i do like a bit of the mad-mental.

I'd prefer Glasgow too, just 'cos... well, mostly, I don't like Edinburgh much, but am also running it fine with teh moneys.

Houseparty at el tokso's sounds pretty good (hope that ain't too presumptuous)?

Spaniel
21:18 / 04.12.05
Toksik, I'm Brightonish.

I'd love to come to Scotland, guys, in fact I'll be
thereabouts for a couple of days over the festive season, unfortunately I won't be able to socialise. Family, dontchaknow.

Come Feb I'm gonna be a full time Dad, so I'd imagine trips to the land of whiskey and heather will be very much out of the question for the forseeable.

That's why you all have to come down to Brighton.

Axolotl
07:42 / 05.12.05
So shall we say Glasgow, venue beyond that still to be decided?

Char Aina
09:48 / 05.12.05
too presumptuous

not at all.
would folks be into that?

Axolotl
10:20 / 05.12.05
Yeah, that could be cool. It's that or the pub, or some combination of the two, depending on people's preferences and locations. The only possible problem with chez toksik is getting to/from the station for any east coast travellers. But it's hardly insurmountable.

Char Aina
10:52 / 05.12.05
there is a train that goes from queen street to within one hundred feet of my house every half hour, if that helps.
i dont mind doing a pub instead if that makes things easier, though.

the only thing thati would ask is that if is to be at mine that i get a couple of days notice to ready myself and inform my brother.

Loomis
14:10 / 05.12.05
Pub could be easier, especially as it saves travelling time for those of us who will probably dash for the last train.

However I demand that toksik still takes a couple of days to ready himself.

So what's a good pub that we haven't been to yet?

Axolotl
15:17 / 06.12.05
Umm, don't know, all the "sit-down" pubs I go to tend to be further out from town.
Toksik, what's that vegan restaurant/pub we met at once? Other than that we could try the 13th Note cafe, though it's been a long time since I went there at the weekend. Anyone else got any ideas?

Char Aina
15:35 / 06.12.05
uh... are you thinking of mono?
its right by the note? has the 'i'm spartacus' graffiti next to it?

my mind isnt what it used to be...

Ariadne
20:17 / 06.12.05
We've been to Mono a couple of times, and wouldn't mind trying the 13th Note - is it good on a Saturday night?

■
21:21 / 06.12.05
Not sure if I'm going to have time for this, kids, but choose a date, time and place and I'll see.

Char Aina
03:45 / 07.12.05
the note is good on weekends, but you might wanna hit it a wee bit earlier to get the tables and the chairs.
i can dig it.
i'd even be up for grabbing seats if someone else wants to chum me along so i dont look like a loser.
well, less like a loser.

Axolotl
07:11 / 07.12.05
I could do that, I'm not doing anything Saturday afternoon.
And I think it was Mono I was thinking of.

Loomis
12:29 / 07.12.05
How early is early? We'll probably be along around 6-7 and will prob eat there as well. We'll be getting the train out at I think 11.30pm so earlier start means more time at the pub.

Axolotl
12:51 / 07.12.05
I'm guessing that will be fine: Most places don't start filling up till later.
So are we agreed? 13th Note Cafe from around 6ish?

Char Aina
15:18 / 07.12.05
sounds f(ph)at.

Ariadne
19:42 / 07.12.05
Cool, we'll be there.

The Falcon
19:46 / 07.12.05
Sweet. If I make my tea nice'n'early I'll come along to help reserve, and perhaps warm, seating.

■
07:30 / 08.12.05
OK, if it's Saturday I can't make it as I have an appointment at the airport at some obscene hour in the morning (TTT's mum is coming to visit, I'm the taxi.). Have fun!
(Oh, yeah. Loomis, Ariadne? I want photos of senor Duncan to prove he exists...)

Char Aina
10:27 / 08.12.05
d-bird; i will call you when i am ready to hit the pub or just before. everyone else can find us in there, i reckon..?

Sax
14:44 / 08.12.05
Don't forget the Buckfast.

Bear
15:02 / 08.12.05
I want to come to one of these! Chloe wants to go back to Scotland in January (obviously London isn't quite cold enough for her).

Where would be the best place to stop off on the way back to the hills - Edinburgh or Glasgow?

■
17:43 / 08.12.05
Don't forget the Buckfast.

See, that's the genius of it. You NEVER forget the Buckfast.

The Falcon
20:27 / 08.12.05
I most assuredly exist. Is this 'cos of that time with sax? I'm sorry about that time.

Or is it more... he's too brilliant, like the sun/how can a man even bear to live when he's that much of a maroon kinda ontological query?

The Falcon
20:28 / 08.12.05
Oh, phone the house, toksers, btw. My mobile reception ain't shit.

Ariadne
06:59 / 09.12.05
Come to Edinburgh, Bear! be good to see you.
