Saturday December 3rd: birthday-a-go-go!

Today I am celebrating my birthday.

Actually, it's not my birthday for a whole nother month, but a friend of mine decided to celebrate it on Thursday, for some reason.

So, since I've already started celebrating, let this be a month-long celebration! This suits me, because most people forget my birthday in the Xmas muddle. I am actually going to celebrate my birthday publicly on Saturday December 3rd, before everyone gets too booked up with Christmas parties.

The plan is to meet for a late lunch, from around 2pm, at the Mason's Arms in Upper Berkley Street (because the Carpenter's Arms round the corner will probably have sport on TV). We'll stay there for a few hours to let people have time to drop by when they can, and then we will jump on a 159 Routemaster bus from Marble Arch or Oxford Street, and sit on it until we get to Kennington, where we will alight and pile into South London Pacific for rum cocktails and tiki madness. The aim is to get there relatively early so that we can get in for free and be sure of a table.

If I have an idea of the numbers planning to attend either part of the day, I'll try to reserve tables at both venues, so let me know if you are coming.

dAMN Anna, Will not be attending. Work, henna, sleep. However, I will celebrate with you in my work hazy way on your real birthday and will not forget. Because you'll be right there! Haha hoo ho, hee hee!

I'll probably come for the afternoon bit... there's that whole sleep and work thing going on, so if I come early I can have a couple of beers then go home and sleep them off before dealing with the hell that is the Sunday supplements...

Sadly, I too will be socializing around henna and unguents, or somesuch, on Saturday with Lilly N. But we'll be there for the real birthday celebrations,I'm sure.

Seldom Killer, w00t! This pleases me, 'cos you said you couldn't make it...

TM and Lilly, there is a small chance I may be nursing my hangover with hair of the dog at Cleggy's birthday drinks on Sunday, so I may see you there. If not, definitely on my real birthday (we should talk about that, some...)

Cleggy? Who's that? Will I be there? No one ever tells me much. Cleggy?

Oh, I didn't know anything about drinks on Sunday, Cleggy or otherwise. No-one tells me anything either, Lilly.

Or was that last Sunday, thinking about it. I got a garbled phone message about such a thing, but only heard the drinks bit, not the Birthday part. But Cleggy is in the Roch quite often.

[it's in the White Hart. Dunno what time. and tell Lilly she knows who I mean]

Enough of him. More about ME!

[6.30pm - I'm sure she knows who Cleggy is]

So will this become part of the month-long Anna-birthday bash by default?

Short of a miracle i'm not gonna be able to make this. Gah... that's the fourth Barbiebirthday in a row i don't get to attend. I will simply have to acknowledge yr birthday nearer to Xmas; fear not, little one, you are more important to the vast majority of us than that fool Jesus, so I'm sure you won't be forgotten in the "Xmas muddle".

I'm sorry Anna, I've got work that night. If it's any consolation, I'll raise a glass to you on your actual birthday, because I remember from the experience of my childhood best mate (whose birthday is 30th December) how shitty it is to get forgotten in all that 'Merry X-Men and a happy New Mutants' nonsense. Have a fantastic night anyway!

I have moved Heaven and Earth so that I can come along.

Actually that is something of a lie. I moved Valhalla and gave the African continent a bit of a nudge but it was bloody hard work.

I'm dogsick about not being able to attend this, as it's been ages since I visited SLP, but I'm inveigled in family related shenanigans. I'll find a way to make it up to you, Anna!

T-M: Yes.
Bill: Yes.
Quantum: Hell yes!

And the rest of you better make it up to me because I'm feeling fragile and need the attention...

Or, y'know, just find yourselves an excuse to go back to SLP, though, really, who needs one?

Badger beer is niiice

You would say that, wouldn't you...?

To paraphrase Laibach (badly)- "Gif me ein Stoatbier!", perhaps?

LN and I never did get around to the henna stuff either, being knackered by voluminous shop clients and a rammed-to-the-gills Theosophical Xmess Fayre (sic - and twisted) respectively. One or other of us might make the White Hart tonight, possibly.

Na, we're crap for that too. Recycling and party invitations take precedence today. Next it'll be something like, "well my hoover got blocked by something, it was right down the center tube and I just couldn't leave til I found a long enough wire to dislodge that mystery."
I blame the fireplace.

I blame the fireplace.

Given the amount of time it takes us to get a good fire (OK, a reasonable facsimile thereof) going, I think we should pretty much be unavailable for gatherings 'til, oooh, March, at the earliest on that basis alone. Never mind recycling: and the Hoover's a right time-consuming bugger.

You can always say "I'm washing someone else's hair"; and Anna can do that soon too.
