There's a tv show called Dinner For Five, in which actor/director Jon Favreau and four other actors would sit, eat, and casually converse about acting, the art of cinema, and whatever other pertinent Hollywood topics arose. A few months ago I had dinner at a Toronto cafe with fellow artists Kalman Andrasofzky (DC Comics' "iCandy", Dreamwave's "Warlands"), Ramon Perez (Speakeasy's "Spellgame" and "Butternut Squash") and writer Brenden Fletcher. Our conversation was recorded and is now available for your listening pleasure.
It's in two parts, here and here.
The entire thing runs for about 2 hours, and we cover a bunch of interesting topics about the process of drawing and creating comics. I also talk about my work on Manhattan Guardian and let slip a few details about my forthcoming Vertigo book.
(As it's a recording of an actual dinner conversation, we don't get formally introduced and it may take a while to figure out who's who, so I'll say that *my* first words in the recording are "The original Ocean's 11 is a piece of shit. The remake is one of those rare occasions where the remake is better than the original. But Ocean's 12, man, I hated that movie." If that statement makes you cringe, then maybe you might not want to listen to me and my shit for two hours).
Anyway, thought it might be of interest to those who are interested about how artists view their own work and how we go about making comics... |
