I love this man.

He worked with Jarman, Dennis Potter, John Cleese (all the greats of avant-garde theatre!..nahem..). He has done Becket, he staged the Illuminatus trilogy, and he was in,er, "creep". Those of you in the home counties will no doubt have heard him on radio 4 (they love him on "Quote unquote")

these days the wisened dwarf trots around Britain, harping on about all sorts of Barb. friendly forteana. I saw him last night giving a talk at my English faculty and the topics covered included the laughing jesus theory, the 8th wonder of the world at the Damanhur compound in Italy, multiverse theory and why Citroen hired him to lead their ad campaign when he is black-listed for damaging sales with his very presence.

Any fans out there?

I wonder if there would be some kind of intellectual explosion should he and Jonathan Miller ever meet. Yes, he's great, and more than a little scary. Never seen him live, though.

Ken Campbell rules. He knows all the interesting stuff about everything, so far as I can tell. (He's a lovely man to meet, as well- much less scary than when on stage, but every bit as intense).

Yeah, I had a chat with him afterwards and he seemed quite unfazed. When you consider that the main topic of conversation was a hollowed out mountain in which, among other things, the Damanhur group claim to have mastered time travel, this is rather impressive.

Having said that, there were points on stage when I found his face genuinely frightening. Sure enough, his cuk-toothed grin returned to haunt me in my dreams.
