Ah Christ.

I'm meant to stay away from these things. I have a rule. But it was free, it looked lovely and now I've just lost a good five hours.

Okay. Free French-made MMORPG that has recently debuted on an English-speaking server. It runs in Flash, so rather than going the popular, processor-intensive 3D way you get exquisite anime-styled 2D art full of character and quality that's frankly mind-boggling considering it's being given away gratis. All seems present and correct. PvP. Guilds. Trading. The works.

Sorry, as an opening post this is going to look a little slight, as I've barely scratched the surface of this very vast game, so I'll post more as I get into it. Anybody playing this? Anybody want to get all Barbelithed up tae fuck?

Damn you. Just when I think Cities and UD are enough to ruin my life, you bring this up. OK, SpinyNorman is about to start playing. See you there.

Okay. It seems I lied a tad. It's not completely absolutely totally free.

Without paying you can wander about the opening village to your heart's content, learning trades and doing everything you'd expect, but there is some sort of restriction on moving outwith it. I'm not quite sure what though, as my current level means I'll get pure humped if I try. You can go out and explore, but I think the featureset is reduced in some way.

No matter, there's plenty to do in the village for the time being.

Right now I'm being very careful with how much time I spend on it.

Oh aye.

I have a few ficsuits. The only one where I've done any levelling is called Felldram, and she's a layyddeeeee.

I've used some of the others to wander about mumbling like a deranged homeless person and to stand in crowded places proclaiming tales of woe like a town crier. Just for kicks.

Nah. That game is too annoying for words. Fiddly, confusing and the translations are so bad that you have no idea what's going on. Very pretty but a waste of time. Sorry.

Now I know how a kicked puppy feels.

The only major hassle I had was setting it up (specifically on the mac), which was a bit of a pain in the arse to be honest. Other than that, it's not so bad. The translation hiccups here and there but I don't think it's any major problem. Haven't had too many problems with control either. The battle is quite nice, very Final Fantasy tactics. It does require quite a large investment of time though, so I'm not too sure I can afford to go the whole hog with it. I'm limiting myself to half an hour here and there.

Awww. I spent about three hours trying to find "the bow tailor", looking for some kind of shop with an archery sign. Only to be told when I went and clicked on someone I had already talked to three times that I should go back to three characters I had already bought stuff from. They then gave me free things to make a bow with. I still don't know how to make a bow work. My character is supposed to be an archer. Then, half way through a fight my antivirus mail scanner popped up, obscuring the magic controls and I couldn't get rid of it. Perhaps it works better on a Mac.

I feel awful now. It is very pretty, and I'm sure it might present some measure of fun. Please try it, folks, and let us know what you think. I hate the idea I've stomped on Meludreen's joy.

Don't be silly.

It's probably for the best, seeing all the other things I've currently got stacked up. I've not actually played it for the past two days, while I catch up with stuff. I do quite like it though, and urge you all to try it out. If other people are up for it then I'll be more than happy to join up with them for bits, otherwise I'll only be playing it sporadically.
