Unfortunately it is the weekend after the rent is due, but before payday, so I am skint and unable to join you for the gig. However if you're having pre or post gig drinks I'd be up for a couple.

The Return Of Rothkoid

You lucky, lucky man.

I'm waiting for my Homebake experience, and hoping that they're throwing in a side gig or two.

Videodrome saw them twice in SF a month or two back, and said they're playing even better than ever before.

Hmm. Not sure if we'll be able to arrange drinks. We'll probably be getting to the gig fairly early as it starts at 7 and we don't know what time it finishes so it's tricky to arrange something for later. Might have to be another time unfortunately.

No worries Loomis, I shall no doubt catch you and Ariadne at some later date. Enjoy the gig.

Wow. What a fabulous gig. What a wonderful band. What witty patter. And the ABC is an excellent venue, despite over-enthusiastic doormen trying to shepherd people into different queues for picking up tickets and entering the gig.

The front half of the room is normal standing room, and the back half is raised up a couple of steps and there is an assortment of boxy seating, kind of sixties style, so you can sit in different sized groups, or stand, or do what you like. Decent loos, non-overpriced drinks. Top work all round. And did I mention that the band were amazing?

Stupid snotty woman next to us overheard complaining that she didn't like the band, mainly because there were no vocals. DIE NOW! What the fuck are you doing at a Dirty Three show not knowing that they don't have a singer? And even so, how can you see such a great performance and not get on your knees in thanks for being able to see it? DIE DIE!

Ariadne

I should point out that this is Loomis 48 hours later, and calmed down - he was quite ready to kill that poor woman!
It was a really good gig - the support band, My Latest Novel, were really cool. The guy before them, Josh someone (Loomis, can you remember?) looked great - like a crazed hillbilly - but was a bit crap. IMHO, obviously.
