i was a googling, and i found the iranian defence forum.
they have some pretty good policies about hatred and seem to be there for open and frank duscussion of issues relating to global and iranian defence.
in my initial skim read i came across something that stuck out.

i found a cartoon about the israel palestine conflict.

i dont really want to prejudice your reading of the film, so i wont.
watch it.
possibly not safe for work, but not in a 'rude bits' way.

Recently, I saw a cartoon, where the smurfs were bombed. Looked very mean. The cartoon was done by the UN, to make people more conscious about war and its results. And the smurfs were used to get a stronger reaction out of people.

That worked with me. To see the smurfs happily dancing around a fire holding hands, and in the next moment all those mushroom huts are destroyed and thereĀ“s little smurf baby crying, that really upset me.

I would not let children watch that.

Yeah, I watched that very same film this morning. I can't work out if the message is supposed to be that suicide bombing is OK, because it shows all the resistance fighters dead at the end, presumably as the result of the boy's grenade- is it saying "suicide bombers hurt legitimate resistance" or was it holding the boy up for praise?

The resistance fighters all appeared to me to be dead from gun wounds, not the explosion... it appeared that they wiped each other out.

Lovely cartoon. It's just like G.I. Joe, except more political, and with blood, and people exploding, and women getting killed by strikes to the head with rifle butts. And no parachutes.

IRANIAN CARTOON SPOILAGE

dude, its the laughter...
see when the israelis open fire?
and they laugh?
i think the message is pretty clearly slanted.
naming the scarfaced guy ariel was also a bit of an obvious, i thought.
do you think kids are gona grow up more or less equable in their outlook after watching this?

Well, being cynical about all such stuff, I did a bit of nosing around WHOIS and the guy who hosts it is in Israel (or possibly Illinois) and the site is hosted by a Texan company. Until I know more (and I doubt I ever will unless someone with the time and resources can do some digging) I'll assume it could either be a) real or b) bullshit black propaganda against Iran of the sort of which we're seeing an awful lot recently. Both explanations kind of work, but I lean toward the latter on paranoid gut instinct alone.

Oh, MEMRI is a famously biased organisation and generally to be suspected at the very least. But I've never heard of them having animation studios. I'd imagine they've got the video from *somewhere* outside of themselves. Might do a bit of googling to see whether anyone else confirms the source and the context.
