just what was Faust trying to achieve ironing a shirt on stage while putting an angle grinder to work?
That piece is called "This is not music" - which may or may not be correct. It's a performance piece, as is the whole of the Faust set, and is there to surprise the audience, and make them wonder just exactly what constitutes music.
This was a very much truncated set; 45 minutes instead of the usual 2 hours, and in my opinion they should have played more of their psychedelic freakout tracks to get the crowd moving.
I fear this was lost on me. Well they were interesting I'll give you that. :-)
For me, way more interesting that EITS, but then Faust were the only reason I went at all. I watched EITS for about 10 minutes, then gave up. They were competent, but I knew I'd not remember a single note they'd played after the evening was over. I might check out some of their records in future though, just to hear what they are like by comparison. |
