Advice on broken power objects

OK, so if you've put a labour of love into a specific object or totem or whatever, which has been imbued with some spirit and accompanied you on works, seen some action and gained significance, history, life (think Butch's watch in 'Pulp Fiction') and then - CALAMITY - it breaks, possibly to such an extent that even if you labour to repair it, with love, it may well just break again, what do you do?

To repair or to discard and start anew? If you want background, I'll go into it, just wondering what anyone with such stuff would do / has done? MC, if you split a rune, would you fix it up or start anew? Anyone else?

Slightly peeved at the partial destruction of a beautiful thing.

It depends on why it broke. In my experience power objects don't usually just break by chance, and so I would start with divination and/or introspection about what the break means. For instance, it could be telling you that you no longer need one of those whatevers, or it could be a sign that you haven't been making space in your life for whatever the whatever represents. That's going to affect the proper course of action.

At least this is how the universe works with me.

Argh, that happened all the flippin' time while I was making my deck--and they were hard work too. In their case, there was nothing really to be done but curse, pick up the hacksaw, and saw another lot. And my glass spindle-whorl got broken too, which made me utterly miserable.

If repairs are beyond your own skill, could you get someone else to help? Could you take the item to a craftsperson and get them to fix it?

If the object can't be fixed, exactly, could you perhaps incorporate the parts into a new item?

Turn them into powder or ashes and use them in workings.

Yeah, I saved some of my broken rune bits and burned them on Odin's harrow.

Mordant-

What's a glass spindle-whorl? What's it for?
