as a lazy consumer of music i am always on the too-slow hunt for stuff i will like, and i feel it would save me a lot of time if you could help me with that.
i'm thinking others may feel the same way.
often its pretty predictable what someone will like from what they already do,and i figure we have enough of a breadth of knowledge and experience here to fill in most of the gaps in each others knowledge given the right prompts.
(i was thinking this thread might end up a bit like the other random question threads, albeit with a slightly tighter remit. see how it goes.)

i'll start with a track that i reckon most folks are probably familiar with in passing. the track i have in mind is from the film 'super troopers'; the pumping techno 'choon' that the germans couple are blaring out of their porsche's speaker system as they get caught for speeding.

i found out recently that it is by a guy called bubbles(DJ bubbles ocasionally) and that the song itself is called 'bidibodi bidibu'.
i didnt even realise it had any real words to it until i googled and found lyrics.(they dont make much sense, if the random punters of the interweb are to be believed*)

it sounds awesome in the small doeses we hear it in the movie, and the section on the amazon website for you to try before you buy doesnt show it in any worse a light.

do any of you have it?
is it fat all the way through?
do you any of you have any other songs by this guy?
does anyone know of anything that sounds just like it?
perhaps something not identical that bass fiend like me might appreciate in a similar way?

where should i shop?
what for?
do you think i'll need a porsche to go with it?

is there anything you'd love to get more of?

For finding music you´ll like, check this site out:

Last.fm

You type in a band you like, and then get tips about other music that may be similar, and it sometimes works for me.

i'll check it out.
in the meantime, do you have any ideas?
fromwhat i've read, bubbles is big in his home country.
am i right in thinking that you and he are compatriots?
do you know of any tunes i might not hear of from the usual suspects in britain?

i get the feeling there must be loads.

I can´t help you there.
I don´t listen to pop music on the radio; because most of the time it´s horrible, I get catchy tunes stuck in my head, and the commercials are annoying.

And I´ve never heard of DJ Bubbles, so I don´t know, if he´s german, too.

sufjan stevens...
i've heard 'chicago' and 'come on! feel the illinoise!' and i get the feeling he could do better.
any reccomendations as to what that might be?
or anyone similar who you think has him beat?

Seven Swans man, good good stuff. In my opinion his best. "The Transfiguration" is an amazing song, as is "He Woke Me Up Again".

cheers, dude.
they are in the queue as i type.

any ideas about the previous tune?

i have been looking around for some more freestylers style nonsense recently as well...

i have a few 'freestylers vs' remixes that bang, and a couple of their albums.
are thre any other hyperactive-hip-hop artists of the same calibre?
a lot of acts push similar buttons on occasion(chemical brothers and leftfield, for example) but no one seems to have that party-rocking bouncey-break-beat thing just quite so nailed.

ragga vocals a plus, naturally.

any ideas?

Toksik Get the whole album 'Come on Feel The Illinois' which has both those tracks on it- its pretty marvelous and works as a concept album- the whole thing is about Illinois as part of his 50 states project- also check out Greetings from Michigan which is also rather good.

There's a thread on him/illinois here for more thoughts.

My nearest (obvious) references i guess would be either the Arcade Fire which is similar in tone but a bit darker or maybe The Shins which is less orchestral and more bouncey but has (imho) a similar feel. I'm sure other posters can think of other similar reference points...

My day would be made if I could find something like the first couple of discs by The Prodigy...does such a thing exist? Last.fm recommends stuff I've already got like chemical brothers or orbital but I guess I'm looking for something else...something I haven't already heard...
