I do have to agree that sometimes fucking with religions is a little... uncomfortable for me. However, I have to quote this "hatemail" just because of its hilarity:

I'd suggest that FSM really doesn't make fun of anybody's religion; from what I've read, it doesn't mock faith, it mocks people who try to prove their religious convictions through eye-bleeding-inducing arguments like

The Bible is infallible because it is the word of God
God exists because the Bible says He does.

John Octave, yeah, I think you're right about his intentions with the site, and I also deplore the enforced teaching of Creationism over science. But I guess it was the "pastafarian" stuff and replacing Jesus with the Flying Spaghetti Monster that raised my concerns.

However, I find "humour and religion" a difficult topic to get my head around, as the recent Muhammad cartoon controversy reminded me, and to be honest I'm still undecided about all this. I also love the 'Life of Brian', and often replace "God" with "Dog" in my communications*, so...

*Although, I believe in dogs and realised I was being a bit slack casually using "God" in conversion, seeing as I don't believe in hir. Also, my Grandmother [a Catholic] found it offensive if [e.g] I stubbed my toe and screamed "Jesus Christ!" at the top of my lungs, and I think she kind of had a point.
