Ok, I am a British citizen. I am currently in Ottawa. I am supposed to do some major last minute work in Hyderabad in India next week.
I need a visa for this...but it is kinda hard to get as I have no time to visit an embassy. I have people on the case majorly phoning round but as a random call for help - anyone know any quick ways to get a visa for two weeks in India?
You'd need to visit your local Indian High Commission and queue - for a long time. You'd need to set aside a day for it, as Indian bureaucracy is an art and they've exported it to embassies and commission offices all over the country. I don't think you'll get one by post within a week.
Both times I had to get a visa for India, I handed in my documents in the morning at the consulate and then went back to collect them at the end of the day, or the next day. I didn't have to hang around physically, iirc.
