Alright everybody, it's time to share your favorite comic book store. Make sure to tell us where it is, what it's called, and what makes it great.

And feel free to complain and bitch about the shitty ones too.

I'll start:

My favorite comic book store is Warp 1 in Edmonton, Alberta. You might have heard about it when Nathan Fillion (Firefly and Serenity star) went in and the manager wouldn't give him an issue WITH HIS FREAKING FACE ON THE COVER for a better price than it was slated, so he wrote a rather blistering e-mail about them and sent it everywhere. If it was me, I would have given him a bunch of free copies if he signed, like 10 or 20 copies to up the value...so that was kind of dumb on Warp's part. But other than that, they are an awesome store. You tell them which comics you want and they'll just stick 'em in a membership folder for you, and even if the price is raised a month later when you come to pick it up, the price will remain the same on the issue as it was when it was released. So basically everything that you reserve is cover price. And if you're a member, they pay the GST. And they have the biggest trade selection I've ever seen in one place. And the people who work there are actually nice. How many comic stores have you gone into where some overbitch is just a bastard to you for existing? I hate that.

Well, I'm done geeking out over my favorite comic book store. Your turn.

Abstrack Sprocket.
Norwich in Norfolk

Started off life as a comics mail order service, then occupied a corner in an indoor market before graduating to its own store. That the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, passionate, enthusiastic and efficient should go without saying. Its all the other stuff- the sofas the offering tea to customers in the store, the sense of community. I'm guessing that a fair few budding comic creators have received the tea, sympathy and encouragement from Dean and Lisa -

Heroes' Haven in Roseburg, Oregon was nice.

The place was run by a guy and his mom (heh).

He had some VERY early Mike Allred on the walls, that Allred had traded for Love & Rockets posters.

Since it's on the other side of the globe I don't pop in too often.
The local shops are rather meh, being game stores that happen to have some comics.

run in the memory of a great man called tony.

they can keep the fanboys happy, and yet also manage to pander to my slightly less commercial tastes, all the while giving great service, which is lucky since they are the absolute opposite to the other large comic shop in town.
