I was thinking after spinning through the Barbelith Music Swap Clearing house- how many obscur bands must be long out of print- that would be dying for an MP3 download service- long deleted obscure 7" that you once had taped off a mate- that band you taped off John Peel in 1989...
Is there a service that you can legally get hold of these from? an itunes type store that specializes in modern day Nuggets type website. I understand that this is a huge undertaking and probably already exists- i'm just thinking how cool it would be to be able to get hold of that obscure track without the repressing costs that go with printing records....
does this exist... Can this exist... should this thread be in creation as something that could be done (a huge huge job I know!) but given that many of the bands i'm talking about are disbanded and the labels are bedroom outfits- could it work... imagine getting the complete rough trade/ wiiija back catalogues online...
Any ideas / thoughts on the subject? |
