evoking Tintin and Snowy

they would make good guides... always competent though not arrogant and get through many a scrape.

I had this idea but can't think of any "hooks" or things they would like to have other than a biscuit for Snowy.

suggestions?

(and please no obvious thread rot re Captain Haddock and alcohol.)

You can use the clothes Tintin wear all the time (I think those pants are tweed, but I don't know exactly... they're really impossible to find here at Brazil).

You can comb your hair like his, and you can try to find out the song of his cartoon.

And, of course, read a lot of his albums and invoke him using them...

Tintin's trews are tweed "plus-fours". I suppose any tweedy golfing trousers would do.

Since he's technically a boy reporter, a notebook & pencil might be good. Also, having a stack of Tintin books to hand would be helpful. I dunno... maybe odds-n-ends from the period the books were written to lend atmosphere?

did I have that wrong?

I meant invoke rather than evoking... call into external not internal existence.

still, notebook and pencil, good idea, I hadn't thought of that. and it does make for a good excuse to re-read those albums.

I suppose you mean to imply that Herge collaborated with the Nazis? well maybe he did and maybe he didn't but I ain't talking about him but rather some characters he created.

I did some research about them (my, the memories! ) and find those:

The theme from the Cartoon Networks' cartoon

and a really, really complete site about Tintin and Snowy.

I liked your idea. But, invoke Capitain Haddok and Snoowy too... or you will begin to have very straightforward ideas... these other two will counter-balance Tintin's ingenuity.

wow. thank you Player.

I think the gods must have invented flash animation just for this site.

Snowy yes. Haddock no. Haddock doesn't have the archetypal resonance for me. he seems like a plausible person. and Tintin doesn't.

also according to the site Haddock 'replaced' Snowy to an extent. BTW Snowy came first.

My pleasure.

I lovethe Tintin'sadventures since I was a teenager... and, your thread here in Barbelith gave back a lot of good memories...

So, you're going to use the couple like familiars? Keep us informed, would you?

Cheers,

"familiars". well the term means a physical animal helper really. more of a magic version of balloon help for ASC and psychedelic experiences really.

for updates I guess you can check out my rarely-added-to livejournal. see the link on my profile.

Tin Tin and Snowy..what a brilliant Idea. It beats the hell out of my idea of using Scooby-Doo...Although after a conversation with a friend Im thinking of using Asterix and Obelix.
ANyway let me know how things go with this.

You might get better results/conversation if you invoke the druid Getafix instead of the two warriors. I guess it depends on your desire.

The tintin idea ios an excellent idea. Love this idea of creating then invoking your own gods from popular culture.

at this point I feel torn between the pair and Tom Baker's representation of the Doctor. the latter had such an impact on me that I shied away from it in favor of more emotionally-neutral models.

I may do either but lean towards the Doctor.

That's odd. I was just thinking of working with good ol' Getafix; I could use some of that wisdom-and-maturity stuff about now. Not to mention a drop of magic potion.
