heads up.
we’re going down…

IT CAME FROM THE SEA
>> B’LO (THE JOINT) <<
SAT 01 OCT * 10-2 £6/5

incurable romantics will be heartened to hear the Sussex Arts Club is playing host to a wedding reception this month. insatiable hedonists will be relieved to hear such obstacles mean NOTHING to yr favourite deejay-promoters, who are BUSTING OUT the ICFTHS Mobile Disco back to ROCK UNDERGROUND WEST STREET.

yup yup: returning to the scene of a show so hella hot’n’happening that ONE OF THEIR COMPUTERS BLEW UP, Nikon Driver & kicking_k BRING THE PAIN back to the underground bunker that is B’Lo for a return match that shd see EXTREME FREESTYLING raised to the level of AN OLYMPIC SPORT (please note that we will be back at the SSX Arts in November – but more, later..)

readers’ poll:
IS THERE ENOUGH CAPITALIZATION IN THIS EMAIL FOR YOU?

(on which note) FOR THOSE WHO STILL HAVEN’T BEEN:
here is our favourite paragraph of the latest ICFTHS Press Release (it may turn up on the website too): “kicking_k & Nikon Driver of It Came from the Sea take conceptual scissors to the music world, cutting and pasting together an all-nite soundtrack that shifts drunkenly from wipe-clean synth to mongrel guitar snarl, dancefloor beatbox to shiny pop hooks.”

which, in practice, translates into a list like THIS SATURDAY:
MISSY ELLIOTT, JUSTICE, TIGA, PRINCESS SUPERSTAR,
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, N.O.R.E., CLOR, LIL KIM, NO BRA,
THE TEST-ICICLES, M.I.A, GOLDFRAPP, MU, FLII STYLZ,

TRAIN!!!, ZONGAMIN, KEVIN BLECHDOM, JUELZ SANTANA,

PS: other (online) sea news: the boyz proudly present the opening of their online gallery at the beginning of October – showing off the good work assorted local artists have contributed for the ICFTHS slideshow, and providing contact details, bios and the like.

www.voodoolily.co.uk

a large part of the atmosphere and attitude of the club environment in 2005 has been down to the art projected above the dancefloor and this virtual exhibition exists to introduce their work to a wider audience. there’ll also be directions for what to do if *you* want to get involved.

furthermore, the full-range of (much-admired) previous posters and flyers will be archived and available for inspection, allowing people to see how far we’ve come in two years and counting...

I quite fancy a trip to Brighton this weekend, is anyone else from London going down on saturday? Are any of the Brighton crowd who I know going to ICFTS this month?

Mmmmaybe, finances permitting. You're welcome to crash at ours though.

Wait, WEST STREET? I'm thinking twice now...

aww, c'mon - it's B'Lo (formerly The Joint) - which is no further down West St than the turn-off to Churchill Square. and anyway, we have to be careful about indulging in cheap rhetoric regarding West St - ok, it can be rough, and (other than B'Lo) there aren't any venues i'd feel comfortable about attending there, but i have walked down the drag in make-up (geddit?) lots of times and never had trouble.

anyway, you'll be indoors, underground and cushioned by music. this is one case where location, location, location is the least of it...

Always open to bribery, Quantum overcomes his petit-bourgoisie detestation of the Mothership that is Churchill Square and the frontline that is West St, for ICFTS. Partner willing of course.

You may have been down it in drag to no ill effect, I know people who've been beaten up because they have curly hair. You takes your chances I reckon.

hmm... was it *very* curly? (FIGHTS - RAGE).

yeah, wasn't having a pop at you in particular, Q, and aware that it can be a bad scene, 'specially around kicking out time down at Creation and The Event - it was just that the NME student guide made some cunty ref to the street as being a 'breeding ground for chavs' or suchlike and i've been proactively oversensitive ever since.

but enough of that. i'll gladly cheapify you and yr other half. PM me relevant names. FUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUN!!!
