What do you wear to go out?

It's been a while since I went out dancing at the weekend, and I have no idea what people wear for such things. So I'm interested in what everyone else wears for such occasions, and how what you wear has changed; as well as how you feel high street fashions have changed and / or affected what you wear (if they have). And whether they have or haven't, I'm interested generally in why you wear what you wear to go out...

This is partly just curiosity (in the 'what are you wearing right now' sort of way), but also because I gave away pretty much everything I used to wear to go out when I moved out of home properly -it all looked pretty dreadful and I'd quite like to get some new stuff...

hhhhhhh can;t breathe with excitement. Am coveting new things v much as is now fresh and sunny and autumn and the end of small things from top shop season. Boots. it is time for boots!

AND the jeans, heels and spangly top thing seems to be coming to an end. So I will mostly be wearing dresses for the going out. And for going to work. And for cleaning my house (as I imagine the swoonsome Kirstie Allsopp does).
They will probably be from somewhere rubbish (like surprisingly bad evil Tesco) but I will sashay in them as if they were by DVF herself.
Huzzah!

Sexy, straight legged trousers, shiny black loafers, dress shirt. If it's cold, I might wear either one of my velvet jackets (musk-pink or black).

I have recently been wearing my smaller pair of jeans (which now need patching) and this kind of top thing... argh... it is the length of a very short minidress (i.e. just below the bottom), is tied at the waist, has long sleeves and a standing round collar. It is made in a flowery print. If I were brave enough to wear it with opaque tights (highly unlikely, do not avert yr eyes etc.) I would be like one of the people in Fruits (point of style: LONG SLEEVES).

momentarily derails thread

boots boots, gorgeous boots

its my birthday sooooon, and these are atop the birthday list, and every day I go to the veggie shoes site and imagine myself wearing them. I think I'll cry if a big heavy box doesn't arrive mid October.....

and they are versatile boots as you don't have to have the fluffy bit showing, you can turn it up to make them long and sleek, or turn it down and go for the Nordic look.

If I'm so lucky I shall wear them always, to bed even.

Tight jeans, sneakers, tight black V-neck jumper with rolled up sleeves, or tight orange t-shirt to show up nicely with new bleached hair. Gets you in anywhere, in my experience.
