Really? Weird. It entirely depends on the night, because I've had nights out until six in the morning in Vancouver. Most places let out around 2 or 2:30, but there are a few after-hours. I've only really experienced one after-hours, the World, and that was once because it costs an arm and a leg to get in and it was one of those birthday deals.
IIRC, Sonar's still pretty good - it's down near Gastown, I think. Unfortunately, you've missed the Symphony of Lights firework displays that go on through the summer, but there's plenty to do otherwise.
Food, food, food: place called Han, I think, which I haven't been to yet but will probably go next time I'm in town; it's a Chinese restaurant which looks-wise is nothing special, but they specialize in big sharing situations, and I know they have a seperate vegetarian kitchen to prevent cross-contamination. I haven't had a chance to try it out, but I like the idea.
Commercial Drive out in Burnaby direction is a pretty ghetto place but there's lots of little shops (some comics ones I think, as well)- it's a strange place at times. Bukowski's is on Commercial, and it's well worth checking out. Good restaurant. I was on Commercial with some friends one evening and encountered a drunk stilt-walker who followed us for six blocks, kind of thing. |
