London Open House and the Thames Festival September 17-18 [PICS]

Bit late notice, this, but is anyone else planning to visit some of the buildings at London Open House, or to attend the festivities down on the Thames?

I've not really sorted anything definite out, though I plan on running around London all weekend, looking at some open buildings, and watching things on the Thames.

Last year's carnival parade was really cool (Gypsy Lantern will back me up on this). The costumes are all amazing, and it's less fraught than Notting Hill cos it's smaller, so there's a really nice vibe.

Both things are free, so if you're not busy, you really have no excuse!

Not sure I'll get online before Saturday, so if any of you are interested in accompanying me (and it's much more fun with someone else!), text or call me: 07939-718937. I might even buy you a beer!

I'm planning to go, but the only thing I've decided on so far is the Neasden Bunker (at 1.30pm, Saturday), which is pre-book only. I'm going to meet up with someone from Flickr there and was going to see what else he intended to see, but apart from that, I'm up for going to see anything. Drinking also sounds good.

All I could commit to is saying if you plan on checking out the Hackney stuff, I'm child/partner free Friday night and Saturday night and so shall be visiting Church St open pubs.

I will be aiming to go to the Princelet St Huguenot house as it is my kind of thing - probably on Sunday as I'll need to work tomorrow...

That carnival parade was fucking fantastic last year! Standing on a bridge watching a seemingly endless stream of dancers and drummers in increasingly mad costumes make their way across the river as the sun sets over London. I think it's not just that it's quieter and a less hassle than Notting Hill - so you can just enjoy watching the parade - it's also the fact that it goes over the river.

Well, I had a fab but exhausting weekend. Pics are on my livejournal...

I know this is old, but I used up all my memory on Flickr before I could actually post this:
