I've got the notion in my head to set up a personal wiki on my server, something that I'll be able to access from nearly any computer, for the purpose of writing notes, story ideas, songs, links, posting pic and other such nonsense.

"But lekvar," you say, "why not just get a blog?"

Because I don't want a blog. I want a server-side wiki, something that will allow me to log in, jot something down, and log out, something non-linear and cross-refferenced, something I can modify using a browser.

I like GTDTiddlyWiki, but it's client-side only*.
PHPTiddlyWiki doesn't seem to support any formatting and only creates links via WikiWords. It does not, in fact, rocketh.
MediaWiki (the same wiki engine as Barbelith and WikiPedia) looks cool, but frighteningly complex.
Also, the Tiddlies only seem to work with FireFox. Don't get me wrong, I love the 'Fox, but I'm looking for something I can access using Safari and IE, too.

And I want a pony.

So, anybody else messed about with wikis? Any suggestions or wiki engines you think I might have overlooked? Any personal favorites?

*to anybody who hasn't played with a TiddlyWiki: Do so. They are great fun.

i can't help you, but I must say, that's a rather cool idea - using wiki as a cross-computer organizer

if i had the need for it (I usually stick to using soley my desktop, and don't migrate much) I'd totally do that

I have been using WackoWiki for a High School Debate Team website. That one is pretty easy to use, plus it is Russian. Harascho.

Ask C.Elseware on this board if you can, expert wikiperson.
