I'm looking for a ritual to practice or being to contact to help with artistic projects.

Without going into too much detail, I'm a "professional creative," (for lack of a better term) and lately I've had a couple... not actually "problems" in this area... but factors that have started to feel like I'm running a little dry.

1. I've gotten a lot of freelance work lately (thank you, Pietro,) and consequently I've had to put a lot of my creative energy toward them.

2. I've been neglecting my own personal projects, which I always liked to think were a lot more interesting and complex than the cogs I work for a check, but if I don't finish them, then there's no way of knowing is there. I realize part of the reason I'm neglecting them (beyond the time issue) is that I've been a little directionless, and I'd like to fix that.

I don't know if I'm looking for the God/dess of Art, or the "Do Something Brilliant" spell, but any direction, suggestion or relflection will be greeted with gratitude.

What sort of art are we talking about exactly? Writing, graphical art?

You might want to check out this thread, in which an idea-getting servitor was introduced: I.M.P. (From the people who brought you GEK!)

Or maybe you could try working with one of the Muses? I'm a little hazy on how one might go about this--not really my area--but might be worth looking into.

How much can the paid work and the personal projects be done at the same time? In other words, is their mutual exclusivity a product of your beliefs about both?

Do you actually have the time and physical resources to do both at the same time? Will your personal work have to take a short term hit so that you can bring in the money?

Is creativity a finite thing? Can you change your working methods so that everything takes less effort?

If you can do both then I'd consult the old grimoirs Liber Time Management and The Codex Discipline.

As a blacksmith, I've always been fond of Ogoun. But why not decide on some direction you want to take your art in and invoke something along those lines? For example:

love art = Aphrodite or Eros
war/violent art = Ares
thoughtful/forceful art = Oghma
Or Eris if you just want alittle craziness.

I've had good results working with Hermes. I wore a little silver pendant with his seal on it when I wanted him to influence me, when I wanted to do creative work, and I invoked him from time to time when I was serious.

I know he's not exactly right, but... God of communication? Language, music, art? Depends what you're creating, I suppose.
