A thread for selling or swapping in Games & Gameplay?

Some of the other fora, most notably Books and Radio & Music have threads offering up people's unwanted things for trading.

Would it be acceptable to start a simmilar thread in G&G? Simply because I have various bits and bobs that I no longer have any use for that I'd love to see go to someone who'd appreciate them, and I'm probably not alone.

As regards swapping or giving away games, as you say, we already have similar threads in Books and Music but I think people feel alot less attatched to games (or are at least more inclined to swap them) in comparison to books and music thusly it might become very very popular. I'm really not sure of any of the legal implications of this and maybe am overly cautious in saying that it might all end up looking a bit dodge? (if it got out of hand).
On the other hand it would be extremely neat if it was tenable.

As regards actual cheque and cash transactions: There's some older discussion on the selling of items linked below,
And also an even older thread linked within this link

As well as computer game discs, I was also thinking of things like trading, er, trading cards, and things like rulebooks and funny dice for RPGs.

Thanks for your support, Shoulder Bug/Cistern, but I will wait until other people have replied before starting this thread. The possible dodginess you've pointed out is still making me feel as though I might be opening a can of worms!

I'd love this, and I'm not so sure it would really get out of hand. G&G definitely needs a place for swapping sourcebooks, dice, videogames, etc.

As per the links... personally I see no problem with this AS LONG AS all the actual transactions are done off-board. If your email's not in your profile, PM it to the buyer/seller... it's all a bit of a grey area, legality-wise, so I'd say if you want to find people to buy from/sell to on Barbelith, fine... (and if that's the case then a single dedicated thread per forum is a good idea, cos none of us want the place to be spammed to fuck, do we?) just keep the actual transactions off-board.

Bear in mind, I know nothing about law, and even less about computers, so this may all be bollocks, but it seems to me to be a way around the problem which avoids a) clogging up the board and b) - b) being the more important of the two- landing Tom in any shit.
