My first Barbelith post!
Has anyone read this? It's amazing...It's a history of American militarism by Joel Andreas that should be in every middle school history classroom in the nation. The numbers it uses are pretty suspect...but numbers always are. The basic premise is, "War has ALWAYS ALWAYS been a result of commercial interests and is NEVER EVER an appropriate response to ANYTHING." Which is probably the best thing you can tell kids about the subject. It's also fantastic comics--easy to read (the panels are inobtrusively numbered) but not flat, an amazing amount of information on each page...the perfect textbook.
So yeah, has anyone else read this? |
