"post under moderation" flag

Heya. just wondered whether it might be useful to have a flag letting people know that a post has been flagged for moderation - maybe in particular by the poster. I've just put in a mod request to change something daft I said where I misreported someone else's previous post because my mind was on the main topic and not the specifics, but it's also been the case that I (and others) have missed out little words like 'not' and so on. If we had a little flag to let people know a post was already being moderated, would it cut down on goofiness?

It could also work with live topics which are being moved to a given forum - cut down on the surprise factor.

Cheers, N

Would also save time for mods.

Hm. That's interesting... I'll have a think about that one. I think it's a great idea. The only question is whether or not I can build it. I should also point out though that it's likely to also create some problems as people realise that trivial moderation is going on around the place more than they'd expect...

Well, if it does become a concern we might need the public mod requests file...

That is a good point, Tom, but surely "people realising" is an essential part of the whole transparency thing? Surely the onus is on us mods to reassure people of our benign intent, rather than to pretned we're not doing stuff. Also see Flowers' post above. That's probably more helpful than this one!

A lot of moderation requests are put forward by people who originally wrote the post anyway. It might go some way to reassuring them that they're not alone in moderating their own words/grammar.
