I've had the "pleasure" of seeing Bob Dean speak in person... at the McLuhan Festival last year. He handed this out without any explanation of what it meant. He then proceeded with his talk, which was a telephone session with a psychic from England (Flo, I think). Apparently Flo has an ongoing relationship with three spirits, who had prompted her to contact Dean to decode their messages. The spirits would show her images which she would describe to Dean. He would explain what each image meant.
The three spirits were named Mac, Frank, and Jim... implied to be Marshall McLuhan, Frank Zappa, and James Joyce. He repeatedly referred to the spirits by their full name, then immediately retracting the name and going back to the nicknames. (As if the audience was getting some information that they weren't supposed to know... Who falls for those kiddie-games?)
The spirits answered questions about future technology, the development of new human senses, and other stuff I can't remember. Strangely enough, the spirits couldn't agree on much. Some questions were answered by one spirit wanting to impart the information, while the other two wouldn't let him. (This was always an image of two of the spirits covering the third's mouth.) Other questions were answered by each of them giving a different reply (yes/no/maybe). Any information given turned out to be rather ambiguous as opposed to enlightening.
I think Bob Dean is an intelligent man... But, if you have something of value to say, why not let the information speak for itself? Why try to take over someone else's platform? I think that he actually thinks he's Bob Dobbs. He even calls his wife Connie. |
