So ... what are you doing right now? Quiet night in? Getting ready to go out? How is your weekend going?

Last night I went to see Mikelangelo & The Black Sea Gentlemen, who were fabulous, and today I went for a stroll up Arthur's Seat.

Tonight I'm staying in with a bottle of white wine (just opened) and cooking pasta fagioli which will be ready in about twenty minutes.

I'm writing a Young Adult novel. I entered a competition last month where you hand in the first three chapters of your already-completed masterpiece. Then you polish it lovingly and twiddle your thumbs until they compile a shortlist, and hopefully ask they for the rest of the novel at the end of Septmeber. A last whisk of the feather duster and you send it off.

I have no novel. I would bet good money that most of the entrants have no novel.

So I am tapping away and have completed - let me tot it up - 16,850 words out of 50,000.
I also just ate the bean stew I made yesterday and fed to some other Barbeloids while we watched Dr Who.

I'm still recovering from absinthe at last night's house party. Stomach still feel's a bit shit, but it's better than the mid-afternoon intestinal catapulting.

Currently drinking tea and precariously eating hobnobs. Gonna put on the Resident Evil soundtrack and maybe log into Urban Dead for a bit. Am trying not to text someone until tomorrow. My resolve is strong. My will is absolute.

I've just got ome from a drunken friends house, where I had been suffering the effects of accidently getting involved in the politics of somebody elses lovelife. I've been drinking since 4 (Those amazing Quantum Bloody Marys), and I'm about to pass out wondering A) If I'll have any friends left in the morning B) Why the fuck I didn't go clubbing instead of trying to help a friend.

Just in from a birthday party. Have provided slashtastic gift - action figures of Frodo and Sam at Mount Doom, which upon a button press confess their love. I note that once again the literature on the back ignores the bit where Frodo goes evil and decides to put on the ring and rule the world.

So, checking mail, reformatting old computers, listening to Half Man Half Biscuit on iPod. Theoretically, life is good.

Tired/wired/spaced due to work, lack of sleep, being dumped, alcohol and, er, stimulants... Been at a leaving do at a private club on Shaftesbury Ave. Spent extortionate money on drinks. Glad I'm paid on monday. Drinking tea. Considering whether to watch TV/a film, play videogames, read comics or just lie down. iTunes on random. Currently Kraftwerk live. Need a wee.

Just finished watching a Six Feet Under DVD with my girlfriend after dinner from a sandwich shop, which I ate by myself watching whatever drivel was on the TV (I honeslty don't remember a minute of what I saw). Girlfriend was impressed with my newly polished and mounted set of samurai swords.
