Drifting in the desolation of the open sea in my BRIGHT RED, slightly shabby lightship. Might even put the light back in.

I’ve had my eye on this one for a while, actually. It’s available, it’s kinda affordable...

Desolate, dismal and most certainly derelict, but beautiful nonetheless.

I could live here.

I reckon I'm seconding Boboss here, but when Brighton's West Pier became an island, it also became my ultimate fantasy lair.

Hoping Boboss didn't post an indoor view:

or perhaps

portenross castle,
where deceased kings of scotland passed on their way to their final resting place on iona.

I'm sure the Brighton lot know this already, but Nick Cave's got his eyes on West Pier...

Rock star Nick Cave wants the ruined West Pier to be turned into an offshore wilderness to create a living memorial to the decaying monument.

He is supporting a proposal by his friend Doug Leitch to turn the pier into a sea-based jungle.

*tears of joy*

Thanks, you chaps!

[By the way, I do recommend a thorough perusal of the site that I got those first 3 pics from: Geograph

The idea is brill: "to collect a geographically representative photograph for every square kilometre of the British Isles". It's open to anyone to contribute]

I think Haus put some absolutely lovely stuff from that site up on his LJ. Sea fortifications. With triangular legs.

Smoothly, I don't think there is an indoors anymore.

I love Nick Cave's plans.

I just sold this little gem on behalf of my employer...if it had had a bit more land round it I might have considered buying it myself...

It's actually quite nice, so dunno about dereliction (the house you get with it needs work though, and it does have ruins on it) but I want to buy the island where St Patrick is reputed to have run aground off Anglesey.

Anyone got a spare million?
