after the success of last weekend's barbemeet i thought it would be a good idea to make everyone aware of the impending annual world pipe band championships.
as the name suggests, the championship is held every year and is a stage upon which the finest in pipes (and drums) can show off their skills.
the finale, a gathering of all the winning bands from all the categories playing in unison, is definitely a hairs on the back of your neck kinda moment.
they also have a drinks tent, a mini-highland games, a highland dancing competition, your usual festival food stalls and hott-folk in kilts.
the event itself costs very little for a day of fun, and the bagpipes will rarely be heard in an atmosphere less suitable to their powerful and unique sound.
the programme this year also one of the many this year to contain special events to mark the 700th anniversary of the death of william wallace(he of monumental fame), and so should be bigger and better and more scottish than any before.
it's also the 75th birthday for the royal scottish pipe band association, so they should be trying their best to impress.
you can get tickets before the event online at the above address, or over the phone from 0141 564 4242.
i'm probably going to get mine at the gate on the day, but you should feel free to be more prepared than i.
so...
youse intae it?
